Overview
Established in May 1979, the A. G. Leventis Foundation is the outcome of the vision of the Cypriot entrepreneur Anastasios G. Leventis (1902-1978), who laid the bases of its focus on society, education and culture. Now in its fourth decade, the Foundation retains its adherence to these priorities, keenly supporting the dissemination of Greek and Cypriot cultural heritage, as well as extensive public benefits programs, pioneering environmental protection projects, and medical research.
Details
The system will open on the 1st of March for New and Repeating of grant applications. Candidates who wish to apply for an educational grant should fill in the electronic form and submit it with the required supporting documents by the 31st of March (24:00 GMT).
The system will open on the 1st of April for Renewal applications. Scholars interested in the renewal of their grant should fill in the electronic form and submit it with the required supporting documents by the 30th of April (24:00 GMT).
SELECTION PROCESS
Selection is made from a large number of well qualified candidates and competition is often keen. Approximately one in eight applications is accepted.
Criteria applied are:
- The scholastic ability of the candidate measured in terms of previous academic record and the economic situation of the individual.
Additional factors determining selection include:
- Field of study/research.
- Country and University where candidates have been admitted.
- How clear and complete the application is.
All these factors are carefully considered in the interests of equity, balance and quality.
The A. G. Leventis Foundation is not obliged to give explanation regarding the decisions of the Selection Committee and does not provide feedback to the hundreds of applications received each year.

Cost/funding for participants
- The grant offered varies according to the country of study.
- It aims to cover only part of the expenses and it will not be sufficient to cover the total cost.
- Grants are offered by the A. G. Leventis Foundation on an annual basis.
- The grant is paid in two remmittances in late November and late February of each academic year to the beneficiary’s bank account, provided that the Scholars have sent their full bank details and proof of enrolment to info@leventisscholarships.org by October 15th.
