Work with a variety of teams to gain experience in Sales and Trading and learn about different asset classes and product types, algorithmic trading, and how various dynamics drive markets.

What you will do

  • You’ll work with a mix of Sales and Trading desks to help advise clients on their portfolios. This experience will give you a solid understanding of different products offered within our key asset classes such as Foreign Exchange, Emerging Markets Rates and Commodities; Global Debt Markets; Equities; and Securities Financing.
  • You’ll assist in an analytical project or build new tools that support the desk.
  • You will have the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge necessary for the role and successful candidates will be prepared to advance to our Graduate programme.

What you'll learn

  • You’ll begin with a comprehensive induction on the soft and technical skills you’ll need to succeed.
  • You’ll get training on Bloomberg and Reuters terminals, as well as a proprietary suite of HSBC tools.
  • You’ll learn data analysis, technology skills, influencing and time management.
  • You’ll gain insight into the various dynamics that drive markets and the correlations between different factors, which will help you develop a feeling of what to look for when trading a particular market.
  • You’ll learn how to formulate market views so that you’re comfortable and confident presenting a trade idea and investment solutions.
  • You’ll understand the relationships between Sales, Structuring and Trading, as well as how this works to serve our clients.
  • You’ll have a Buddy, a Programme Manager, and a Mentor to help guide your through the programme, make connections and provide career advice.
  • You’ll increase your knowledge of our Markets business through the support, training and experience you’ll get by working alongside teams across asset classes involved in trading, sales, and middle office support services.
  • You’ll learn how to navigate your way around a large, global organisation, improve your communication skills, and develop capabilities in a variety of technical areas.
  • You’ll have plenty of opportunities for continuous learning and people to support you during your time with us so that you're well prepared for your future.
