Overview

At SDSN Youth, we empower young people to take meaningful action on the Sustainable Development Goals. By joining our global team, you will be working with a diverse and exceptional group of individuals with a variety of cultural, religious and political backgrounds, committed to sustainable development.

Before advertising a role, we will look through the Talent Network first. By proactively applying, we will reach out to you first when we have any vacancies that match your interests.

Please note that we have three types of positions:

  • Volunteer, Remote.
    Volunteer positions have 12-month terms and can be done anywhere, remotely.
  • Volunteer, local positions.
    These positions are half remote, half local. You must be based at one of the SDSN Regional Host Institutions (as a student or staff) in order to take on these roles.
  • Internships, New York City.
    Internships have 3-month terms, based out of our New York office. Candidates must be able to legally work in the United States, as a citizen, lawful permanent resident, or hold a permit to prove eligibility to work in the US. We are unable to sponsor visas.

About us

To promote integrated approaches to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, through education, research, policy analysis, and global cooperation.

In 2012, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), to generate practical solutions for sustainable development by mobilizing global scientific and technological expertise, including the design and implementation of the SDGs. Led by Professor Jeffrey Sachs, the SDSN is based at Columbia University in New York City.

In 2015, the SDSN launched its official youth initiative, SDSN Youth, to empower youth globally to create sustainable development solutions. SDSN Youth is based at the SDSN New York office and supported by 182 volunteers based around the world.
