Overview

The International Children’s Peace Prize is awarded annually to a child who fights courageously for children’s rights. Winning the International Children’s Peace Prize puts your changemaker in news headlines around the world. Last year, the winner's message reached more than 3.5 billion people!

Details

All winners have shown a remarkable commitment to combating problems millions of children face worldwide. The motivation behind the prize is to provide a platform for children to express their ideas and personal involvement in children’s rights. KidsRights feels that children should be recognized, awarded and motivated in their fierce efforts to improve their own situation and that of the children in their environment and even the world.

The prize was launched by KidsRights during the 2005 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates at the Capitol in Rome, chaired by Mikhail Gorbachev. Since then, the prize has been presented every year by a Nobel Peace Laureate. The International Children’s Peace Prize is an initiative of Marc Dullaert, Chairman and Founder of the KidsRights Foundation.

GLOBAL PLATFORM

The prize recognizes the achievements of the young winner. The prize also offers the winner a global platform to promote his ideals and further his work. With the newfound attention, these young heroes’ messages reach an international audience of millions. This global attention will generate a higher level of cooperation and structural improvement for the realisation of children’s rights.

About us

Children are changemakers. KidsRights works with children to create a world in which their rights are guaranteed and they are enabled to realize their great potential. KidsRights is convinced that realizing children’s rights more effectively calls for the perspective, experience and authority of children themselves.

We ensure that children are being heard. Together with children, we ask global attention for their power as changemakers and children’s rights issues. Also, we empower children as positive and resilient changemakers. We act with children, amplifying and accelerating their actions in their communities and beyond. Lastly, we make sure everyone is informed about children’s rights. Through our research we provide insight in the status of children’s rights worldwide.
