Overview

What’s a spa at sea like? Gorgeous. Spas at sea are in prominent positions – normally at the very top of the ship. With the growth in the spa industry at large, the spas onboard are synonymous with resort spas on land – very spacious, with state of the art facilities. Spa and team size are commensurate with the size of the ship. Our largest commercial ships at the moment carry 3,500 passengers and approximately 1,500 crewmembers and in 2009, Royal Caribbean launched the largest ship to sail the seas. This mega ship will carry up to 10,000 passengers and crew combined. Do you want to work with us at sea on a luxury cruise ship?

Details

We have created hair care and apothecary products since 1901. However, it wasn’t until 1934, when we opened hair salons in every major city in England, and also opened our first hair salon at sea onboard Cunard’s Queen Mary in 1967, followed by the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II, which has always had a beauty salon onboard its ship.

Of course the needs of the public constantly evolve, and our success is enhanced by its ability to evolve with them. Over the years, we added treatment rooms to their salons and then fitness facilities, which marked the origin of its commitment to overall beauty and wellness. Today, our spas are exquisitely designed relaxation facilities that emphasize spa treatments for the face and body, comprehensive fitness programs, and alternattive health care such as Acupuncture, Chiropractic services and medi-spa treatments such as Botox Cosmetic, Restylane, Perlane.

Ever wondered what it is like to live in the middle of the ocean? Can you imagine what it is like to fall asleep every night while the ship rocks you as if it were a cradle? Well, no one can truly describe what living at sea is like, but we can give you a good idea and we invite you to read through all our descriptions thoroughly.

Although we hope you apply for a career with us, you must be aware that living at sea is not for everyone. There are lots of inconveniences that come with living on a ship, but for those of us who do decide to take the plunge, these inconveniences will soon be forgotten when you experience the rewards and fulfillment of a career with us.

What is worth mentioning? How about this: “I have visited 60 cities and 30 countries in the last 9 months. Amazing.” Sean, Fitness Instructor.

While it’s easy to get romanced by the idea of travel, a good portion of your life at sea will be spent at work, so it is vital that it is both productive and fulfilling for you. All our successful spas have great team players who support each other, but also take it upon themselves to run their own columns. What does this mean? It means that each individual will help promote the spa as a whole but will take responsibility for filling up his or her appointment sheet. There is nothing quite as invigorating and rewarding as being fully booked, and when you are working, you should try to be as busy as possible. Your salary is mostly commission and tip based, so the more productive you are, the more you can earn. Obviously how busy you are is not solely about how well you promote yourself, other factors also come into play – like how full the ship is, or where the ship is sailing – but it is vital that you take charge of your day and become the captain of your column! Your work will be varied and include: hosting seminars and demonstrations, promoting the entire spa and your own services, promoting in different parts of the ship, offering deck massage and pool side braiding, weekly port cleaning, inventory checks and assisting with stock. All staff must participate in life boat drill every cruise and guide passengers to their stations should there be an emergency. Staff may also be asked to be models for the gift shop fashion show. Work or Play? Onboard they become intertwined.

What do the staff say? “When I joined the ship, I was very shy and very worried about making friends and speaking in public. I am now cured!” Katherina Beauty Therapist.

Interviews in the UK are held every two weeks in the London office for Beauty, Massage, Nail Technicians and Acupuncture. Fitness interviews are held once a month. Please note that recruitment is ongoing. There are no “closing dates” for positions, and we can be flexible with training dates.
