Details
The Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS) – Bengaluru was founded in 2010 by a group of like-minded individuals passionate about encouraging young minds around the country to explore the science and practice of biodiversity conservation. The conference is a multi-day event designed to facilitate interaction among diverse members of the Indian conservation science network and encourage the exchange of research ideas, technical knowledge, and experience related to conserving wildlife. To date, the conference has involved the participation of around 4750 students.
If you are currently an undergraduate or graduate student, post-doc, or early career professional in a conservation-related field - in the natural or social sciences or their intersection - we want to include your perspective!
The conference is designed for young conservation researchers pursuing studies within the fields of conservation science, including (but not limited to) ecology, environmental science, resource management, geography, economics, and social sciences.
SCCS-Bengaluru 2024 is a four-day, physical conference that includes workshops, plenary talks, student poster and oral presentations, and activities to facilitate networking provide an introduction to numerous national international institutions and organisations involved in conservation and associated research. Description of Ideal Candidate
The conference is designed for young conservation professionals and researchers, as well as early career conservationists. Their focus could be — biology, social sciences, medicine, economics, architecture, law—if it has relevance to conservation - we welcome them all.
Registration to attend the conference is open to everyone. However, the option of presenting work is restricted to students (Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD students) and early-stage researchers, not beyond three years of working in the conservation sector. Those working in the social science aspects of conservation are encouraged to submit abstracts.
Presentations of completed as well as work in progress, and from economic and social as well as biological aspects of conservation, are welcome. Although we anticipate that most participants will be Masters or PhD students, we encourage participation from all early-career researchers, whether or not they are registered for an academic degree.
This conference is mainly meant for students registered at universities and young professionals in South and South-east Asian and African countries or working in this region. However, self-funded participants from other countries may also apply.
