The 2024 Global Solutions Lab will be the 20th Lab. It is generally focused on making real the above quote of Buckminster Fuller, and specifically, on developing strategic solutions for achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Details
Format: The 2024 the Lab will be on-line and an intense, every day experience. Participants will be expected to be make a substantial time contribution to the work of the Lab. The Lab will use the brand new global problem solving platform for their creative work. This platform will be available to participants after the Lab as well.
The Lab focuses on developing strategies and solutions to critical real-world problems that achieve one or more of the UN SDGs. Each participant is part of an international, cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary, and intergenerational Design Team. This collaborative, creative effort culminates in a presentation of the Lab’s work to a group of UN, corporate, philanthropic, academic, and NGO leaders. Participants will learn a powerful strategic design and planning methodology that they will use to develop their solutions.
GOALS OF THE GLOBAL SOLUTIONS LAB
- Increase our understanding of global dynamics, world resources, human trends and needs, and options for humanity’s success
- Learn design science and how to apply it to global and local problems
- Develop viable strategies for improving the well being of humanity and achieving one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
- Increase the public’s understanding of these issues through disseminating the strategies as widely as possible
- Serve as an incubator and growing force for developing and disseminating design science techniques for complex problem solving and development of viable solutions to the worlds problems
- Learn a methodology for changing the world.

What You Will Need to Participate:
The Lab has participants from all over the world. Recognizing that different parts of the world don’t all have the same level of telecommunications infrastructure, here is what you will need to participate:
- Internet connection, with as high speed of a connection as possible.
- In addition to a good internet connection, you will need a computer with video and audio capabilities. Also – you will need a relatively quiet location for having group discussions with your team members from around the world.
- Time commitment. The on-line Lab is a serious time commitment— Online participants should plan on 4 to 6 hours per day, starting around 10:00 am (Eastern U.S time), every day (with breaks for meals). Sessions include large group, break-out teams and individual research and development. (In-person participants invest considerably more time in the Lab.)

Tuition: $250. Partial tuition scholarship are available.*
