Overview
Since 2007, American Jewish Committee's Goldman Summer Fellowship Program has been offering a highly unique and competitive paid internship designed to help develop future leaders in the areas of international and domestic politics, Jewish and democratic advocacy, public relations, and management. This coveted fellowship gives undergraduate students the unique opportunity to work in AJC offices across the U.S. and throughout the world—from New York City to Brussels, Belgium.
Details
Work Assignment + Expectations
AJC’s Goldman Summer Fellowship runs 8 weeks over the summer. Fellows are required to work a 35-hour week (hybrid, at least 2 days/week in-person) in their assigned office, where they are provided a workspace, computer, and an AJC email address. They work on a substantial and meaningful independent project for the AJC office to which they are assigned and meet regularly with their supervisor who provides personalized guidance throughout the 8-week Fellowship. Goldman Fellow projects span the range of AJC's interests—from international affairs to intergroup relations, policy research and tracking, and program development to implementation.
Professional Development + Access to AJC Programs & Events
In addition to 1-on-1 mentorship from their direct supervisor, Goldman Fellows are afforded unparalleled access to senior AJC professionals through lunch-and-learn sessions that provide an insider’s look into the inner workings of AJC’s global organization. Additionally, each Fellow is matched with an AJC professional who is not on their immediate team for career discussions, allowing Fellows to further expand their networks and gain more exposure to the work of AJC.
Access to AJC Programs & Events
Goldman Fellows are provided access to AJC’s Global Forum, where they join over 2,000 attendees from around the world to hear from top diplomats, scholars, and activists, and participate in high-level discussions about the impact of global issues and events on the future of Jewish communities worldwide.
The Fellowship experience culminates with the entire Goldman cohort participating in a week-long “Germany Close Up” trip (August 3-11, 2026) to explore contemporary Germany through a Jewish lens. AJC covers the costs for flights, hotels, tours, and most meals.
Placement Process + Opportunities
Placement is a two-way matching process. During the application, candidates indicate their preferred field of interest and location. At the same time, AJC domestic offices and international affiliates apply to host a Fellow, indicating their needs and potential projects. A “match” is then determined. In recent years, Goldman Fellows have been placed to work in New York City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Brussels.
