Overview

We offer multidisciplinary academic summer courses for students with completed undergraduate degrees. Deep-dive into current disruptive topics, update your knowledge, gain international networks and get a taste of Aalto University's world-class, future-led and challenge-based learning methods this summer.

Details

Aalto University Summer School's graduate-level summer courses have something to offer for everyone. The courses are tailor-made for students, lifelong learners and working professionals with a completed bachelor's degree from any discipline or nationality.

We strive to create an international and multidisciplinary atmosphere in all our courses. We believe that letting students work together in applying their new skills leads to the best learning experiences. At the same time, students are taught by top faculty and experts from Aalto University with the latest learning methods that are strongly aligned with work-life.

The application process

  1. Choose a course and review the application requirements
    You will find a link to the Aalto University Summer School application form on each course page (see list of Aalto University Summer School courses). The course-specific application information, such as specific requirements, eligibility, and application dates, is listed on the course pages. 
  2. Apply for the course
    Before applying, please check that you fulfill the eligibility criteria and possible prerequisites specified in the course description. Pay attention to the application deadlines, which can vary between courses. Fill in your application form carefully and make sure to provide all the requested information. 
  3. After applying
    After submitting your application, it will be reviewed by the Summer School staff and course teachers. If we need more information from you, you will receive an email request within 7 days. You will receive the final admittance decision within three weeks of sending your application. Accepted students need to confirm their participation to secure their place in the course. After confirming your participation, you can prepare for your visit with our practical tips.

Language skill requirements

Aalto University Summer School does not require an official test record of English proficiency. However, we expect the students to have a strong command of English, both in writing and in communicating in the classroom, to be able to fulfil the course learning objectives. Language skills may be used as criteria in the application approval process.

Cost/funding for participants

Tuition fees: 1400-1600€ (partnership discounts apply)

Tuition fees are calculated based on the level of the course (e.g. undergraduate/graduate) and credits (ECTS). Please see information about course-specific tuition fees on each course page. 

Note that in addition to the tuition fee, some Summer School courses carry a programme fee that covers extracurricular activities, special materials or additional services, such as portfolio photos. The information about a possible programme fee can be found on the course page. 

Applicants will receive payment instructions via email after being accepted to a course. Applicants confirm their course participation by paying the tuition fee. The tuition fees are paid with a credit card or through Finnish online banks. International students are encouraged to check that they have allowed international payments from their credit card.
