Overview

In 2004, the Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino founded the Alta Scuola Politecnica (ASP), restricted to 150 young and exceptionally talented students, selected solely on the basis of merit, among the applicants to the Laurea Magistrale programmes (equivalent to a Master of Science) in Engineering, Architecture and Design at the two universities.

Details

The resulting Community is made up of very motivated and exceptionally qualified  students (about 60% achieved their Bachelor of Science – B.Sc. – degree cum laude) with a passion for innovation, coming from about 20 different countries; more than 1/3 of them are women.

The Alta Scuola Politecnica (ASP) selects each year 150 exceptionally talented and motivated students among the applicants to the Laurea Magistrale (LM) programmes in Architecture, Design and Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (90 students) and Politecnico di Torino (60 students). A number of places is reserved to international students. Students who wish to be admitted to the ASP must submit their application after the publication of an official call issued by the ASP.

These students follow a curriculum additional to their degree programmes, completely in English, based on ad-hoc courses and the development of multidisciplinary projects.

The mission of ASP is to provide society with high-profile graduates combining in-depth (vertical) disciplinary knowledge from their Laurea Magistrale programmes with interdisciplinary (horizontal) skills that are needed to work in a truly multidisciplinary environment.

Cost/funding for participants

Tuition fees and additional funds

  1. All students who take part to the ASP programme and successfully meet the ASP curricular requirements are entitled to get a full tuition fee waiver for the two-year duration of their LM programme (they do not have to pay any tuition fees to Politecnico di Milano except for the Regional tax and the administrative fee);
  2. The ASP covers the living costs (transportation costs from Politecnico di Milano to the venues where the ASP courses take place, lodgings and meals) of all students enrolled in the ASP programme at PoliMi during the Residential Schools, in accordance to specific needs;
  3. All students enrolled in the ASP programme at PoliMi receive funds to carry out their Projects based on the ASP annual budget;
  4. Students who do not successfully complete the ASP programme lose the above-mentioned ASP benefits and must pay their tuition fees in full (this rule applies retroactively: students who lose their ASP status in second year must pay their tuition fees also for the first year). Students are required to pay their tuition fees according to the highest contribution level, unless they have previously applied for tuition fee reduction and have been assigned a lower contribution level. For this reason, students are strongly encouraged to apply for tuition fee reduction. All students are invited to read the Tuition Fee Regulations for academic year 2025/26.
