The British International Education Association (BIEA) is a not-for-profit organisation with head office in London. Our mission is to promote British education to emerging international education markets, primarily in China and UAE, but also in other countries. BIEA works to meet the needs and challenges in the international education.

Theme of 2024: "Challenge ourselves to think deeply about fashion waste!"

We live on a planet moving through space at unimaginably fast speeds. For millennia, life has been supported by our planet providing the resources necessary for sustaining life. The increasing human population is beginning to destabilise the equilibrium that has existed for so long.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals were developed to help humankind and protect the planet. We need to adapt our ways of life so that the future is sustainable, so the 2024 BIEA STEM Youth Competition focuses on the 12th SDG, Responsible Consumption and Production.

We want you, the adults of tomorrow, to have the opportunity to consider the future and use creative foresight to help come up with ideas to ensure that humans of the future can live in harmony with the planet.

Competition Requirements

The 2024 competition is primarily aimed at students aged 6 to 17/18 (secondary schools). We welcome university undergraduate students' submissions, these could be exemplary examples for the younger age groups. The competition will be accepting online submissions. Students can enter as part of a team (of up to five) or as an individual competitor (however, individual entries may lose marks in the team aspect). Schools may have more than one entry. Students who cannot attend school may submit entries as individual competitors, although all competitors under 18 or in high school must be registered by a responsible adult (e.g. teacher or parent).
