Overview

This is your moment. If you're done playing nice with hate, if you want to call it out, tear it down and refuse to shut up...we have a challenge for you.

Details

Hate has gone viral. From racism and xenophobia to antisemitism, anti-Muslim bigotry, misogyny, and attacks on the LGBTQI+ community—intolerance is exploding. Fuelled by algorithms, echo chambers, apathy and fear, hate speech is spreading faster, louder, and uglier than ever before. Hate is deafening us to a point where we can’t even hear each other.

While this might have become the norm, it's not normal. It's time to turn up the volume on empathy and break hate.

At the One Young World Summit in Montréal, we were proud to give the stage to PACT!, a new movement for radical goodness on a mission to make hate socially unacceptable. In 2025, PACT! and One Young World are coming back together to launch the Break the Hate Challenge.

This award goes to the ones who don’t flinch—who fight hate with bold ideas, loud voices, and absolutely no apologies.

What is One Young World?

We stage an annual Summit where the most valuable young talent from global and national companies, NGOs, universities and other forward-thinking organisations are joined by world leaders, acting as the One Young World Counsellors.

Delegates participate in four transformative days of speeches, panels, networking and workshops. All delegates have the opportunity to apply to give keynote speeches, sharing a platform with world leaders with the world’s media in attendance. As well as listening to keynote speakers, delegates have the opportunity to challenge world leaders, interact and be mentored by influencers. Delegates make lasting connections throughout the Summit, celebrating their participation at social events and the unforgettable Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

After each Summit, the delegates, who are then known as One Young World Ambassadors, work on their own initiatives or lend the power of the One Young World network to those initiatives already in existence. Of those in employment, many returns to their companies and set about creating change from within, energising their corporate environment.

Description of Ideal Candidate

Who should apply?

This opportunity is open to all young leaders (aged 18 - 35) who are tackling hate in their communities or countries. We’re looking for leaders who make you sit up, lean in, and pay attention — the kind who challenge the status quo not just with words, but with bold, boundary-breaking creativity. The judges from PACT! itself have short attention spans so the more original, eye-opening, and head-turning your entry, the better. We are particularly keen to support candidates who demonstrate:

  • Tangible Impact: Creating real change - mobilising communities, influencing policies, changing attitudes, saving lives.
  • Creative Edge: Fighting hate in creative and unexpected ways whether through art, comedy or public spectacle.
  • Relentless Courage: Never backing down, bold in the face of resistance, determined and resilient.
