EDF Climate Corps is the premiere fellowship program for corporate energy management. The application process is rigorous and highly competitive. EDF only selects exceptional students who are passionate about the environment and equipped with the technical and interpersonal skills to be a sustainability leader.

Jump-Start Your Sustainability Career

Climate Corps is the premier graduate fellowship program to jump-start your career in clean energy or sustainability. Fellows join a network of over a thousand Climate Corps alumni and other energy and sustainability professionals, working to advance climate solutions in leading organizations around the world.

Our competitive program selects qualified candidates from a variety of disciplines to work for a summer embedded within leading organizations to identify customized energy and climate solutions. Fellows will gain access to an interactive training as well continuing education, including professional development opportunities, online resources and webinars.

Since 2008, Climate Corps has placed over 1,100 fellows in host organizations including American Red Cross, Google, Lyft, NYC Mayor's Office of Sustainability and TPG Capital. A list of 2021 host organizations will be available to candidates during the interview process. Fellows are matched with host organizations based on their location, industry and project type preferences. See the full list of past organizations on our website.

Projects to Match Your Unique Skills and Career Goals

Working under the guidance of a host supervisor and EDF engagement manager, fellows uncover energy and climate solutions for their host organization. Projects culminate in a written report and series of recommendations to the host organization. Projects may focus on:

  • Scaling Energy Efficiency: Identify energy and cost-saving measures, evaluate financing options and explore opportunities to implement advanced energy management technologies across a portfolio of buildings.

  • Creating Commitments: Develop greenhouse gas emissions targets that are based in science and create strategies to achieve emission reduction goals through data-driven analysis such as energy benchmarking and carbon accounting.

  • Accelerating Renewables & Electrification: Uncover opportunities for renewable energy generation, create strategies for increasing resiliency through microgrids and recommend tactics to increase the adoption of electric vehicles.

  • Evaluating Supply Chain Sustainability: Quantify and baseline scope 3 emissions and develop recommendations for engaging suppliers on energy related emission reduction opportunities.

Qualifications

Climate Corps seeks graduate students who are motivated to join the climate workforce and who are equipped with the skills to make a meaningful impact on their host organizations. Our core fellowship requirements are:

  • Must be a enrolled in a graduate certificate or degree program for at least one term (semester, trimester, quarter) of the 2025-2026 academic year. This includes: 
    • Students who begin their program in fall 2025 or spring 2026 
    • Students who graduate in fall 2025 or spring 2026 
    • Past fellows have studied in a variety of fields, including business, engineering, sustainability and environmental management, public policy, data science, writing, and more.
  • Self-starter with project management and leadership experience, including demonstrated success aligning and collaborating across teams.
  • Able to present ideas and engage in discussion with stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
  • Be comfortable using data to solve problems.
  • A passion for solving environmental challenges.

  • Available to attend Climate Corps Foundations Week, held virtually May 18-22, 2026. If you attend a university on a quarter system, you will be able to watch recordings if needed.

Cost/funding for participants

Compensation

US fellows are paid at least $1,400 per week for 10-12 weeks, plus $1,400 for participation in Foundations Week.
