Overview

Our two week in-person Summer School (24th of June to 05th of July 2024) prepares professionals and students to meet the complex policy challenges that face Europe and the World in the field of drugs. Teaching staff include scientific experts from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), researchers, practitioners and policymakers.

Details

This edition will have a special focus on mental health and drug related issues. Please note that our ‘special focus’ means that some sessions will be dedicated to this topic. The summer school, however, aims at understanding ‘Illicit drugs in Europe: demand, supply and public policies’ in their globality and complexity. Please also note that some sessions are similar to the ones offered in the winter school.

We will have daily in-person lectures, group exercises and field visits.

Credits and Requirements

The Summer School will give 6 ECTS for their courses.

Students are required to do the assigned readings ahead of time; and − for those who volunteer and/or are selected − to make a short presentation about their research/expertise.

A Multiple Choice Questionnaire (MCQ) will be required at the end of the Summer School, including questions on class content, class discussions and readings. We will issue a Specialised Studies Diploma with the final grade − if the exam is successfully concluded.

Students may also require attendance certificates.

Cancellation Policy

Deposit and fees will be reimbursed if the summer school is cancelled, which will only happen in case of a insufficient number of participants.
