What is HNMUN?

Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) takes pride in being the largest, oldest, and most prestigious collegiate Model United Nations conference of its kind in the world. HNMUN is staffed entirely by Harvard College undergraduates and each of our staffers is committed to excellence – excellence in substantive debate, in providing enriching opportunities for delegates to discuss some of the world's most pressing issues; excellence in representation, in inviting thousands of delegates from colleges and universities around the US and across the globe; and excellence in pedagogy, in enabling delegates to develop skills in negotiation, diplomacy and communication. At our seventy-second annual session, we hope to continue our long-standing tradition of excellence. The session is planned to be held in person from Thursday, February 12 through Sunday February 15, 2026.

Throughout the four-day simulation, delegates will gain insight into the workings of the United Nations by actively participating in the resolution of important global issues. Participants will not only work with hundreds of other motivated college students with the common goal of furthering international awareness and building consensus, but will also interact within a lively social setting. We hope HNMUN will continue to be a space where delegates can grapple with difficult international issues and bring creative and thoughtful solutions to the table.

A Letter from the Secretary-General:

On behalf of our Secretariat, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to the 72nd Annual Session of Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN). We are thrilled to welcome you to the Boston Marriott Copley Place for our conference, which will take place from Thursday, February 12 to Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Since our first iteration as the Harvard National Model League of Nations in 1927, our conference has grown to accommodate over 2000 attendees from across the globe in Boston to discuss the world’s most pressing issues. Delegates will be tasked to navigate complex geopolitical, economic, and humanitarian issues while upholding the values of diplomacy and collaboration. Only through dedication, negotiation, and compromise will delegates succeed in creating comprehensive policy frameworks and innovative solutions to the formidable challenges facing the world today.

However, HNMUN extends beyond the committee experience, with delegates having the opportunity to engage with a diverse, international community to foster friendships and memories that will last far beyond our four days together. Our staff of over 150 undergraduate students from Harvard College is committed to putting on a meaningful and enriching experience for all delegates.

Get excited as the “Superbowl of Model UN”, as the New York Times likes to call it, rolls back around with a whole new array of General Assemblies, Economic and Social Council Bodies, and Crisis Committees. We have worked hard to curate a broad range of committee forms and topics that are sure to cater to the vast interests of our delegates.

To join HNMUN 2026, you can submit an application within our registration timeline. Before registering, I strongly encourage perusing our website to learn more about the conference. This website contains information about the Secretariat, registration deadlines and fees, conference policies, and committees. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team at info@hnmun.org.

The Secretariat and I are incredibly excited to welcome you all to HNMUN 2026 in Boston this coming February!

Sincerely,

Omar Darwish
