Overview
The deeply cosmopolitan atmosphere of Germany's oldest university provides people from around the world with a welcoming and stimulating environment for expanding their interest in German language and culture. The International Summer School offers three different language courses, each with its own diverse set of challenges.

Course I provides language training at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels.
- Course II, "Fortbildungskurs (FBK)", is designed for non-native GFL teachers, university lecturers and students of German language and literature.
- Course III provides training in Business German.
The International Summer School’s courses run from August 1 to August 28, 2024.
Core language classes are held in the morning; in the afternoon, participants can take part in a variety of complimentary classes related to their course level. Additionally, there will be workshops and lectures. German native students accompany the participants in a variety of cultural and social events.
Upon completion of the course, all participants receive a certificate of attendance. Additional diplomas are issued to those who pass a written examination. The diploma is equivalent to 4 credit points of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Please read our descriptions carefully. They contain all the information we are able to issue before the enrollment. A confirmation letter with further details will be sent out only after we have received the complete set of documents needed for enrollment.
Workshops
Participants can, if they wish, take part in additional afternoon workshops in

A general introduction to all workshops and sports, open to everyone, will be held at the beginning of the International Summer School.*

Excursions
The destinations of the excursions have not yet been finalized. The program will be announced in time before the start of the International Summer School. Most of the excursions will be carried out by coaches. Trips will probably include the following destinations:

Cost/funding for participants
Fee
The fee for the International Summer School is € 820.
Any bank transfer fee must be paid by the participant.
The Summer School fee covers:
- Language courses with examination
- Afternoon seminars
- Workshops
- Lectures
- Social activities
The university regrets that it cannot offer any scholarships for the above courses, nor can it arrange paid employment for participants.
