Overview
Objective of the Program is to allow promising non-Japanese women researchers/graduate students to conduct research in Japan by providing them with a fellowship. They will be able to spend a period of time (4-6 months) in residence in a research institute /university in Japan.

Outline of JAUW International Fellowship Program
- The program is open to applications between October 15, 2025 and March 31, 2026.
- The program will allow a maximum of 2 recipients, each of whom will win between 600,000 yen and up to 900,000 yen, according to the duration of her stay, to help partly the costs of living and carrying on research in Japan.
- The period of stay in Japan under this program is 4 to 6 months between October 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027. Please note that an in-person oral presentation is mandatory and will be held in mid-March.
- The fellowship money will be paid after entry into Japan of the awardee.

Applicant Eligibility
- Applicants must be non-Japanese women below the age of 45 as of March 31, 2026.
- Applicants must reside outside Japan at the time of application.
- Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree or above.
- Applicants need to identify an institute/university in Japan where they will conduct research. They need to have contacted and obtained consent from a prospective host supervisor at the identified institute/university before applying.
The JAUW will not extend any help regarding this matter.

Cost/funding for participants
The program will allow maximum of 2 recipients, each winning between Yen600,000 and up to Yen900,000 to support transportation to and from Japan and cost for her stay in Japan.
