2024 Key Themes
START
Wherever we live and whoever we are, our day starts from the moment we wake up. In this sequence, we break down key habits to help us define our day from its beginning and identify areas of impact, ranging from the breakfast we eat to the amount of water we may use, and how we decide to commute. Together, we will highlight new behaviors that can help us contribute to the SDGs from the moment we leave our beds, notably through responsible consumption, waste reduction, water preservation and new mobility.
WORK
Work is the second most common daily activity that an average person partakes in during their life, second only to sleep; an average person spends 13 years and two months at work – which amounts to more than 90,000 hours. With work representing such a large portion of the average person’s life, it is crucial that the activity is utilized for positive impact. Young people have a great role to play in re-envisioning the role of money, businesses, and education to create in part a global, diverse, and impactful workforce that is committed to positive change
PLAY
In our hectic, modern lives, many young people focus so heavily on work and family commitments that there never seems to be enough time for leisure, travelling and down-time. Moreover, COVID-19 has greatly disrupted and transformed how young people have fun, impacting those who depend on them, and their own mental health. It is fundamental to carve space within the daily routine for a balanced lifestyle, allowing for meaningful interactions and sustainable hobbies
