The Multi Comfort Student Contest is an international competition based on the principles of Saint-Gobain's Multi Comfort Program. It was organized for the first time in 2004 by Saint-Gobain Isover in Serbia and became an international event in 2005. Today, it attracts more than 2,200 students in 34 countries. Be part of this wonderful competition and enjoy a great professional experience while discovering the importance of comfort and wellbeing. Saint-Denis, medieval city and industrial place with great working-class, has deeply evolved and adapted to the needs of its time. Rich in history and patrimony, during the last 30 years has undergone an unprecedented change. With a representative demographic growth, nowadays Saint-Denis has more than 109,000 inhabitants and welcomes new ones thanks to a policy of building housing - including social - very dynamic and a living environment constantly improving. The Olympic and Paralympic Games (2024) and "Grand Paris", a project that aims to transform the metropolitan area of Paris into a major world metropolis of the XXI Century in order to improve the living environment of the inhabitants and build a sustainable city, are relevant accelerators for the development of Saint-Denis.

In the 16th international edition of the Multi Comfort Student Contest the task is to design a Sustainable Development Park combining residential, educational and recreational functions. The 2020 challenge is to convert the zone of post-industrial site of Coignet Enterprise in Saint-Denis into a green living, learning and recreation area respecting both traces of historical heritage of the place and modern neighborhood sustainable development needs.

Students will be asked to propose:

  • Masterplan explaining the organization of whole site, its character, internal and external connections.
  • Design of Residential.Educational function composed of 25°-300 flats and an elementary school (with Kindergarten) of 18 classes.
  • Preservation and revitalization ideas for historical objects on the site.



  • The period for organizing National Stages will be extended till December 15th, 2020.

  • Countries can decide locally the timing and format of their National Stage depending on the current local situation.

  • Registration for participation on the Multi Comfort website stays mandatory and will be open till November 30th, 2020. Participants must verify with their local leader the deadline for registration in their country. (This information will be also published in this document during the coming weeks)

  • Students registered as participants in the edition 2020 that will no longer be students in 2021, are allowed to participate in the International Stage in case of winning their National Stage.

  • Countries participating in the 16th International Edition of the Multi Comfort Student Contest Paris 2020 must communicate to all registered participants the modifications to their National Stages.

  • Countries will have the possibility to re-launch the Contest Task Paris 2020 in September for the students starting a new scholar period. If this is the case, they are obliged to select the winners before December 15th and respect the number of teams assigned for the International Stage.

  • The International Stage will be held from February 3rd to February 6th, 2021 in Paris, France.

  • The number of teams participating in the International Stage from each country may be limited depending on the International Stage capacity (Maximum 60 teams).

  • The new deadline for the submission of projects via the Multi Comfort website to

    participate in the International Stage is December 18th, 2020.

Description of Ideal Candidate:


Students of architecture, construction engineering, design or any other discipline can participate as individuals or in teams of 2 persons per team.


During the international stage the jury is normally composed by local representatives, recognized international architects and Saint-Gobain experts.


  • Design excellence, functional concept and regional aspects, layout. 
  • Quality and consistency of the proposed construction details with regards to building physics. 
  • Constructions comply with the Saint-Gobain MULTI COMFORT criteria as well as fire safety strategy. 
  • Correct usage and mentioning of Saint-Gobain products and solutions

National Stage:

Information regarding the value and number of prizes for the National Stage will be provided by the local Saint-Gobain organizations in each country. 

International Stage:
