Internship Position: Berlin, Germany OR remote-based (CET timezone)

Terms: Six months, 12-16 Hours/Week

Next placement: October 2020 through March 2021

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for nonprofit work and interest in skateboarding or action sports, to join our international program team for a six-months. You will be able to commit 12-16 hours each week during regular office hours (Mon-Fri, 09:00-17:00 CET). The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the growing area of monitoring, evaluation and learning in the sport for development sector. You will also gain insight into the workings of the first international NGO to combine skateboarding and education activities for youth empowerment.

You will work closely with Skateistan's MEL Manager and Officer either from your home office or from our international head office in Berlin. You'll be supporting the quantitative data analysis and documentation of global data, as well as assisting with research in our priority impact areas including youth development, education, gender equality, disability inclusion and wellbeing. You will help ensure all communication is streamlined with the development and communications teams. There is also the opportunity to get creative with the team, assisting with the process of new monitoring, evaluation and learning activities.

Opportunities and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the documentation of Skateistan’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning activities

  • Assisting in the analysis and organization of data collected from Skate Schools around the world

  • Copy-editing and fact checking of internal Skateistan reports and donor reports

  • Social impact research

  • Assisting the international Programs team with other tasks as needed

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Advanced level of English (written/spoken)

  • Highly organized and able to multitask

  • Self-motivated and strong attention to detail

  • Passionate about sport for development, education or skateboarding

Desired Skills:

  • Practical experience, student or graduate of Development Studies, Impact Evaluation, Child Psychology or related program with a strong emphasis on research and working with data

  • Experience in using Excel and/or databases such as Salesforce

  • Experience in administration or office environment

  • Experience volunteering for a nonprofit
