About Sogang University
Sogang University, the only Jesuit higher education institution in Seoul, Korea, was established in 1960 to provide an education based on Catholic beliefs, in conformity with Korean education traditions.
In spite of its relatively short history, Sogang University has established its place as one of the top universities in Korea. There are 27 departments within 9 colleges offered in the undergraduate program compromised of 8,000 students and 418 full-time, tenure-track professors. There are 12 graduate schools, including professional and special graduate schools, with a student enrollment of 4,000 in the master’s and doctoral programs.
Currently, Sogang has joint academic agreements with over 370 partner universities in 65 countries, including Catholic and Jesuit universities. The university hosts about 300 incoming exchange students and sends 200 outgoing exchange students per semester. Sogang offers various high-quality international programs for international students, such as the International Summer Program, Korean Language Programs, STEM Lab Internship Program, Service Learning Program, and other customized short-term programs.
As a leading research university, Sogang strives to foster international research collaboration through faculty and scholar exchange programs, and has dual and joint degrees in signature programs with leading international partners.

The Sogang International Summer Program (SISP) is a 4-week program for students who wish to broaden their academic experience.
It is also a great opportunity to explore Korea and engage in cultural exchanges with students and faculty members from around the world. By joining our program, students may combine intensive classwork with exciting field trips and various extracurricular activities alongside Sogang University students. Students can also take advantage of their stay in Sinchon, the lively college town in the center of Seoul, where Sogang University is located!
SISP Benefits
- Intensive Academic Course and Korean Language Courses: SISP offers an opportunity for students from all over the world to broaden their perspectives. This Program covers various aspects of contemporary Korean society and culture to supplement students’ diverse academic interests. Along with academic courses, the Sogang Korean Language Education Center (KLEC) provides top-notch Korean language courses which are renowned worldwide for their excellence.
- Field Trips and Extracurricular Activities: Students are invited to participate in field trips each Friday. Visits will include heritage sites and landmarks like the Hanok Village, Namsan Tower in Seoul, the Demilitarized Zone(DMZ), the historic city of Jeonju, and royal palaces throughout the city. Students will ezperience Korean society and culture through hand-on activities with Sogang buddies. They will experience a Nanta Performance(Korea’s best nonverbal musical), Calligraphy, Tae-kwondo, K-pop, will make Kimchi, andmuch more.
- Sinchon, Korea’s Culture Epicenter for Young Adults: The Sinchon area, where Sogang University is located, is well acknowledged as a “College Town”. This is because of the most renowned unoversities in Korea, namely Sogang, Yonsi, Ewha, and Hongik are all located nearby. Naturally, the streets of Sinchon are a cultural hub for the young and vibrant from all around Seoul to get together.
- Personal Care and the Warmest Hospitality: Sogang offers personal care and support for our international students in order to make their stay in Korea as pleasant and memorable as possible. The buddy program in Particular, helps students adapt to the new culture and surroundings.
