Overview
Our story began four decades ago. From a mere three-member team, we've evolved into a premier R&D institution, with more than 1,000 research scientists and engineers, who work seamlessly across disciplines to build strategic capabilities for Singapore in the domains of air, land, sea and cyberspace. As Singapore's national defence R&D organisation, DSO National Laboratories creates the critical edge in defence technology to force multiply the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) combat capabilities and render potential threats irrelevant. The DSO Discovery Internship Programme is a window into the world of cutting-edge R&D.

This comprehensive programme is specially designed to ensure that you benefit from DSO’s vibrant and nurturing environment, as you uncover your passion for research and grow your knowledge in multi-disciplinary areas.
You’ll be paired with a supervisor who will mentor, guide and expose you to real responsibilities and challenges. Your mettle will be put to the test, as you work on innovative projects that matter to Singapore’s defence and national security. And if you are truly outstanding, you might also get to broaden your horizons by experiencing your internship abroad.
And did we mention fun? We have lined up numerous events that will allow you to interact with other interns, our staff and senior management. As you learn more about us, we want to get to know you better too.

Internship Period
- 22 or 24 weeks for local undergraduates in 2 intakes: January - June, and July - December
- Shorter internships of 10 weeks duration are also available
Overseas Internship
- 30 weeks duration with a DSO orientation programme in the beginning and a closing programme upon your return from overseas
- No airfare allowance

So Do I Qualify?
Let’s see. If you’re a Singapore Citizen, and are pursuing your dreams in any of the following: University students:
- Aerospace Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering Science, Engineering Product Development, Information Security, Information Systems Technology and Design, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or Physics; or Polytechnic students and graduates:
- Electrical, Electronic or Computer-related studies; or Students who completed:
- GCE ‘A’ Level - NUS High School Diploma; or
- International Baccalaureate Diploma with good results, particularly in H2 Physics, Mathematics; or Computing/ Infocomm subjects.
