A New Beginning builds ties between American entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from around the globe. Each year, the initiative brings 30 leading entrepreneurs to the United States to exchange best practices with American business owners, investors, government officials, educators and other business stakeholders. The Department of State partners with the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, a network of 8,000 business owners in 40 countries, to implement A New Beginning. The program typically occurs in September of each year.

There is no application for A New Beginning. Participants are nominated and selected annually by the staff at U.S. Embassies around the world based on their entrepreneurial accomplishments and potential to advance relationships between their country and the United States.
