Overview

University of Copenhagen offers more than 40 international summer courses in 2023. There are courses at both bachelor and master level and they are all open for domestic and international students.

The International Summer Programme offers courses within different academic areas:

The international summer courses are offered by the various faculties at the University of Copenhagen and have differing admission procedures. For questions regarding a specific course, please refer to the faculty contact information provided in the course description. You can also find additional information on each faculty website:

  • Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
  • Faculty of Humanities
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Science
  • Faculty of Social Sciences
  • Faculty of Theology

Course dates: Courses take place in July and August.

Language of instruction: All courses are taught in English. Participants are expected to have excellent written and oral English qualifications and the ability to participate actively in the course.

Credits: Depending on the course selection, participants will earn from 2.5 to 15 ECTS credits when completing a course.

  • Click on the course title to view the course description where you will find all the information you need relating to the course (see list of international summer courses). 
  • Before applying, please make sure you have a relevant academic background and fulfil the prerequisites that are specified in the course description. 
  • Under “Sign up” or "Application" in the course description, you will find information that explains how to apply for the specific course.  

Application deadlines

You can apply for all international summer courses until April 1st. After this date only courses that are not fully booked will be available. Please check the course descriptions to see if any seats are available.

The last chance to apply for an international summer course with available seats is June 1st.

Please note that applicants submitting their application after April 1st will not be able to get accommodation through the Housing Foundation Copenhagen.

Visa for international students

As an international student, it is important that you check whether you need a visa in order to enter Denmark. If you need a visa, we recommend that you apply for the summer course no later than April 1st.

Cost/funding for participants

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are calculated on the basis of academic area, credits (ECTS points) and the citizenship of the applicant (EU/EAA citizens or Non- EU/EAA citizens). You can find more information about the fees in the course description (please note that some courses link to the faculties' information about fees where you may have to calculate the fee yourself).

Students from Danish universities will not be charged any tuition fee provided that the course is cross-credited into their study programme. Danish students must provide a pre-approval of credit transfer when applying for the course.

As a public institution, the University of Copenhagen is not allowed to waive or give a discount on the tuition fee to fee-paying students.

Please note that you may be allowed to pay the fee of EU/EAA citizens, if you have one of the following two residence permits in Denmark:

  • Permanent residence permit
  • Temporary residence permit with the possibility of obtaining a permanent residence permit
