We proudly announce the inaugural edition of the Summer School on "Digital Health Technologies: Law, Ethics & Regulatory Issues", a collaboration between the Health and Ageing Law Lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health of the Technische Universität Dresden. This Summer School aims to bring together legal scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and industry experts to delve into the multifaceted challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid evolution of health technologies.
The first edition of the Summer School on digital health technologies will take place in Brussels, at the U-Residence on the VUB campus, from 3 to 7 June 2024. Participants who attend all lectures and pass the assessment will receive a certificate of participation and be rewarded with 4 ECTS credits.
Program Outline
The program consists of eight modules in total:
1. Innovative use of AI in health-related technology
2. AI & Medical Devices
3. How might Large Language Models be used in Medical Devices
4. Health Data Governance (including EHDS)
5. Health Sensors, wearables and biomarkers
6. Design thinking and medical device development
7. Health data and IP
8. Patient and Healthcare Provider Perspective
Each module will consist of two sessions, and both regulatory and technological aspects of every theme will be highlighted throughout these sessions.

- 15.45 – 17.30 Session 4
A more detailed schedule will be communicated closer to the start of the summer school.
On the last day, there will be an assessment in the form of a (group) presentation on a topic relevant to one of the modules of the summer school. Based on this pass/fail assessment and your attendance of all sessions of the program, you can receive a certificate of participation and be rewarded with 4 ECTS credits. Please note that it is up to your home institution to decide which and how many credits to accept for transfer.
