Overview
The University of Warwick Pre-University Summer School offers motivated 16-17-year-olds the chance to step into university life for 10 days on a vibrant campus in the English Midlands. You’ll choose one of four academic tracks " Arts & Humanities, Economics & Finance, Science & Engineering or Social Sciences" each featuring lectures, seminars, personal-development workshops and a guest lecture from an inspiring leader Beyond the classroom, students take part in a lively programme of social, cultural and enrichment activities, with opportunities to explore the UK and make lasting international friendships, all within a supportive and fully supervised environment led by dedicated staff and student ambassadors.

Here are the academic tracks offered by Warwick Pre-University Summer School each designed to give you a taste of university-level study and boost your academic confidence.

A Taste of Arts & Humanities: Explore topics such as English, film, media, liberal arts and theatre, engaging with creative-thinking, critical analysis and cultural debate.

A Taste of Economics & Finance: Learn core ideas including game theory, behavioural economics, macro and microeconomics and environmental finance, and how they shape decision-making in today’s economy.

A Taste of Science & Engineering: Sample a range of STEM disciplines—psychology, engineering, computer science, life sciences, maths and statistics—to discover how science and problem-solving interact in innovative ways.

A Taste of Social Sciences: Investigate fields such as law, education studies, philosophy, politics and sociology, developing analytical and communication skills relevant across many sectors.
Each course includes lectures, seminars, workshops on personal development and sessions on preparing for UK university applications.
Our dedicated DBS checked student ambassadors, current Warwick students, play a key role in making the programme both safe and inspiring. They accompany participants throughout activities and excursions, providing friendly guidance, mentorship and 24/7 safeguarding support to ensure everyone feels comfortable and cared for.

Description of Ideal Candidate
- The Pre-University Summer School welcomes bright and motivated students aged 16–17 who are eager to experience university-style learning and explore their academic interests in a supportive environment.
- No specific subject background is required for any of the four course tracks.
- As the programme is taught entirely in English, students should have a good command of the language to actively participate in lectures, seminars and group activities. English proficiency is assessed through the information provided in the application, including school transcripts and personal statements.

Cost/funding for participants

The total fee for the 10-night programme is £5,250, which includes a £1,000 deposit required to secure your place.

An additional £50 non-refundable application fee is also required.

The fee covers tuition, accommodation, breakfasts and dinners, the full social and cultural programme, day-trip to Oxford, and all the teaching and guest lectures.

Additional costs for lunches, snacks, souvenirs and optional extras such as airport transfers must be budgeted separately.
