*ship Startup Festival is a unique platform for early-stage startups and people interested in entrepreneurship. It is also a valuable learning environment for Xamk students!
You have the possibility to join our *Pitch Captain Competition, take part as a mentor to consult our competing startups as well as visitors, or to just enjoy the event and its program.
Alongside our famous competition we offer Workshops to make sure that startups get the support necessary to achieve the best results at the event. In case you have a team or idea that you are ready to showcase, test and get feedback from industry experts, *ship is the right place for you. All this is possible thanks to our *ship crew (Xamk students) and stakeholders!
Details
Welcoming all pre/early-stage startups, aspiring entrepreneurs, and global change-makers with groundbreaking business ideas! Earn a spot at *ship Startup Festival 2024 16th and 17th of May. This year’s event is planned to be on location in Höyrypanimo, Kotka.
In *ship, you will be able to personally present your business idea and receive 1-on-1 mentoring from entrepreneurial leaders and experts.
Since the spots are limited, you should apply as soon as possible.

*ship – The Startup Festival is a startup event which aims to connect the next-generation of entrepreneurs with mentors worldwide. *ship brings together accelerators, early-stage startups, investors, mentors, students and other entrepreneurial-minded champions annually to the city of Kotka to celebrate entrepreneurship!

Eligibility criteria
- Both individuals and teams can apply.
- Type of submission: business idea, pre-stage startup or an early-stage startup.
- Startups should be less than five years old
Terms for submissions
- Multiple submissions are welcome.
- Ideas remain the property of the submitter.
- Plagiarism will not be tolerated! Please submit original work.
- By submitting your entry, you give us permission to use the information for promotional purposes. (Team name and a short description might be published on our website or social media.)
- Teams accepted in *ship commit to creating their profile pages on Deal Room platform for the *event.
- Teams accepted in *ship commit to taking part in all the mentoring sessions they reserve.

Cost/funding for participants
Pitch Captain Competition:
50 startups are divided into 5 batches and present their idea to a panel of judges. The judges choose 10 finalists based on the novelty and creativity of the idea and overall pitch presentation.
Pitch Captain Finals:
The TOP10 finalists will pitch their ideas on location on the 16th of May. The teams have 4 minutes to pitch and judges have 4 minutes to ask questions. The winning team will be titled “Pitch Captain” and wins the grand prize of 10,000 €. The winner will be announced after the PCC finals on 16.5.
