Overview

AU Summer University is Aarhus University’s summer school which takes place on our beautiful campus every year in July and August. The programme consist of a broad variety of courses, taught in English at Bachelor’s or Master’s level, within the fields of: Arts, Business and Economics, Media and Communication, Social Science and Law, Health, Science and Technology.

Along with the academic programme, we offer accommodation service, visa service, and a social programme for both lecturers and students.

Social Programme

Each year we plan a fun and diverse social programme, with a wide range of activities, offered to anyone who is taking courses at AU Summer University.  The social programme 2017 is shown below. The social programme is organised in Aarhus. For courses taking place outside campus Aarhus activities can be found on each course's page.

ECTS

You will be able to receive ECTS credits by attending the course and taking the exam. The portfolio of courses will differ in workload, duration, credits awarded, and level depending on the academic focus area. You will only be able to attend one course at a time since all courses are intensive courses. Most of the courses have sessions every day 9-13 or 9-16, some courses have teaching every second day 9-16. This depends on the structure and academic focus area.

5 ECTS courses have a workload between 125 - 150 hours depending on academic focus area. Teaching takes place between 2-4 weeks with a total number of contact hours between 25-30 of 45 min. depending on preparation time and workload, evaluation format and academic focus area. 10 ECTS courses have a workload between 250 - 300 hours depending on academic focus area. Teaching takes place between 3-4 weeks with a total number of contact hours between 50-60 of 45 min. depending on preparation time and workload, evaluation format and academic focus area.

Venue

AU Summer University courses are mainly held at Campus Aarhus. However some courses are placed outside Aarhus due to the fact that the content of the courses is related to a sudden location/need of material or laboratory. Please look at each courses page for the venue of the course.

Cost/funding for participants

About course fees

  • Students from AU's international partner universities, Aarhus University or any other Danish University, who are approved by their home university will not have to pay a course fee. 
  • If you cannot get a nomination from your home university, your university is not one of our partner universities or if you are not currently enrolled in a university you will have to pay a course fee.
  • The fee is determined by your citizenship (if you have an EU citizenship or not), the subject area and amount of ECTS credtis of the course you are interested in. 
  • The exact EU And NON-EU fee for each course appears on the course page for each course, all fees are stated in EURO.  
  • The course fee includes a 3% administration fee.
  • The course fee does not include housing, meals or study materials. For a budget example that includes all these things then please see the below box. 
  • You can cancel your registration up to 2 weeks before the course start. Within this deadline, we will refund the full amount you have paid. You do not have to provide a reason for cancelling.
