Overview

Application Engineering Intern performs a period of internship in the Application Engineering department of the Technical Department: acquires and learns technical, process, and specialized skills typical of Technical Department departments that aim to design and improve products and services of BLM GROUP.

Details

The project involves the classification of sample drawings in the company's information system. The idea is to develop a system (or contribute to its implementation) that, given a new design, is able to identify and propose past practices related to similar designs based on the classification. The approach is geared toward a deterministic rather than statistical logic based on classification. Although artificial intelligence has been considered, the initial perimeter does not identify it as central, although it does not rule out that it can help achieve the goals. In addition to the list of solutions, the system should present related information to support the specialist's decision, such as costs.

The main objective is to assess the feasibility of customer requests using a pre-filtered database of solutions. Starting from a new sample design to be made, the proposed system should provide a list of practices related to sample designs already made and found to be similar in classification to the new design. This facilitates the specialist's choice of the most appropriate solution. The goal also includes making additional information easily usable for each practice found, such as total cost.

Activities and topics covered:

  • Analysis and understanding of the current feasibility assessment process and use of experience (direct and indirect via ERP);
  • Study and application of methodologies for classification of sample technical drawings;
  • Work with data and drawings in the company's information system;
  • Contribution to the development or implementation of a search system based on similarity by classification;
  • Identification and integration of additional useful information (e.g., total cost) to be associated with proposed solutions;
  • Potential exploration of the role of artificial intelligence in future system evolutions;
  • Collaboration with specialists to understand their needs and validate proposed solutions.

Note: The trainee will be expected to operate within the workplace with the utmost respect for the rules established to ensure Safety and Health, their own and others', and to ensure optimal functioning of the work environment.
