To make this vision a reality, we have partnered with Forage to provide a globally accessible virtual experience programme that can help anyone, anywhere explore, develop, and attain a career in law.

This modular virtual experience will provide practical skills and confidence to all of the candidates that complete it. Through a series of simulated tasks designed directly by our global team of Clyde & Co lawyers, based on their own experiences in the firm.

Each person plays a significant role in the growth and running of our Firm, with 2,500+ legal professionals and 4,000 total staff in over 50 offices in every global region, including Latin America, Africa, Europe, the U.S., Canada, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and the UK. By undertaking this virtual experience, you will see firsthand how the role of a Trainee contributes to our Firm. 

What will you do in this Virtual Experience Programme?

1. Review comments on a Building Contract

  • Analyse the contractor's comments on a building contract and be prepared to answer the associates' questions on the comments
  • Practical skills you will gain from working on this module: Issue Spotting, Fact Analysis, Attention to Detail

2. Draft a Deed of Variation

  • Following the successful completion of the building contract, Global Real Property Ltd have asked the firm to vary a provision of the contract
  • Practical skills you will gain from working on this module: Drafting, Attention to Detail, Fact Analysis

3. Pursue a claim against a subcontractor for use of non-ACM combustible cladding

  • Draft an email for a partner regarding your review of the facts of the matter and the applicable legislation and make a recommendation on the best course of action
  • Practical skills you will gain from working on this module: Legal Analysis, Fact Analysis, Email Drafting

4. Preparing for a presentation on Governing Law, Jurisdiction Clauses, and Enforcement

  • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation on governing law clauses, jurisdiction clauses, enforcement and litigation versus arbitration, and be prepared to answer questions on these
  • Practical skills you will gain from working on this module: Communication, Planning, Legal Research

5. Assess the IP law implications of AI data processing

  • Use the overview document and flowchart template to develop a process for assessing the IP and copyright law implications of using data from different data sources in an AI process
  • Practical skills you will gain from working on this module: Critical Thinking, Legal Research, Fact Analysis

6. Develop a Contractual Clause that helps fight Climate Change

  • Inspired by the Chancery Lane Project’s Climate Hackathon, brainstorm ideas for a contractual clause that can help fight climate change and present the outline of your model clause by video
  • Practical skills you will gain from working on this module: Communication, Commercial Awareness, Critical Thinking
