ETH Zurich supports excellent Master's students with two scholarship programmes:

• The Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) supports students with a scholarship, mentorship and a network of the ETH Foundation. The scholarship covers the full study and living costs during the Master’s degree course.
• The ETH-D Scholarship contains a partial stipend as well as additional offers by the Department (assistantship or additional scholarship).

Application

ESOP and ETH-D Scholarships applications are supplied via eApply (online Master application).
This also applies for ETH Bachelor students for a consecutive Master programme.

Application documents

In additiont to the documents for the Master admission you will need to upload a pre-proposal for your master thesis.

The pre-proposal for the Master's thesis must be developed by yourself and use established scientific citation practice. Plagiarism, negligent or intentional misinformation will lead to exclusion from the admission process or - if discovered later - to the revocation of the admission and of any scholarship.

If your study programme does not ask for references you must name two reference persons for your ESOP application.

Some 530 professors teach around 20,500 students – including 4,100 doctoral students – from over 120 countries. The results and innovations produced by ETH researchers are channelled into some of Switzer-land’s most high-tech sectors: from computer science through to micro- and nanotechnology and cutting-edge medicine. Every year ETH registers around 90 patents and 200 inventions on average. Since 1996, the university has produced a total of 380 commercial spin-offs. ETH also has an excellent reputation in scientific circles: 21 Nobel laureates have studied, taught or researched here, and in international league tables ETH Zurich regularly ranks as one of the world’s top universities.
