Then you should apply for the 18th European Summer School on Internet Governance (EuroSSIG). The 2024 Summer School offers a unique multidisciplinary high level 48 hours academic programme. The programme is a balanced mixture of theoretical lectures with world leading academics as well as practical presentations from well-known experts working directly in the technical community, the market or in policy making organisations. It offers unique opportunities for learning in a multi stakeholder environment, which includes also intense and individual interactive communication with faculty members and fellows from all over the world. The faculty is chaired by Wolfgang Kleinwächter, Professor Emeritus for Internet Policy and Regulation at the Department for Media and Information Studies, University of Aarhus.
Course
The European Summer School on Internet Governance (EuroSSIG) helps interested students and academics as well as individuals working in the private sector or in government, to understand better the global Internet Governance controversy and to get a comprehensive and structured knowledge on the various aspects of Internet Governance.
A one week academic course, taking place annually end of July, covers the political, legal, economic, socio-cultural, technological and other dimensions of the governance of the Internet. The course includes also practical oriented lectures covering the management of critical Internet resources as well as the development of the domain name market.
Each academic lecture is followed by a Q&A session. Other formats are case presentations, breakout sessions for interactive discussions and a practicum. A social programme is designed for networking among faculty and fellows. Fellows will get a certificate for the successful participation in the Summer School.

Who we are
The Summer School on Internet Governance is organized by Medienstadt Leipzig e.V. with the support of the University of Aarhus. Medienstadt Leipzig e.V. is a German non for profit organisation and a recognized “At Large Structure” (ALS) under ICANN Bylaws. DENIC (.de) was crucial in launching EuroSSIG in 2007 and is the Golden Sponsor.
Members of the faculty are outstanding international experts from the world leading universities and experienced manages from the Internet community who are active in WSIS, WGIG, IGF and ICANN.

Cost/funding for participants
Participation fee / fellowships
We offer different payment models for various stakeholders:
Corporate fee (contains no sponsoring components): 5.000 EUR, plus 19% VAT
Standard fee (half of the fee is supported by sponsors): 2.500 EUR, plus 19% VAT
Students fee (most of the fee is supported by sponsors): 500 EUR, plus 19% VAT

Application for a fellowship (full or partly) is possible for fellows from countries of emerging economies until 31 March 2023. Since there is only a limited number of fellowships available, we encourage everyone to consider the self-funding of travel costs or to apply for the reduced students fee. This will increase the chance to be selected significantly!
