ABOUT SUMMER SCHOOL
In 2005, NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division joined forces with PSSI to offer a specialized, intensive course of study for an elite group of graduate students in political science, international relations and other relevant fields, from NATO’s Member States and partner countries concerning future challenges for NATO and pressing issues on the global security agenda.
The one-week course, held in English, includes lectures, presentations, group discussions and simulations led by Czech and foreign security experts – both senior policy practitioners and scholars. The retreat-type setting provides a unique networking opportunity for approximately 35 participants from as many as 15 countries. Over the years, we have observed that this off-site venue permits round-the-clock chances for students to engage in serious discourse over breaking global developments and the lecture or discussions in which they have participated. Visiting speakers have included senior government and NATO officials, leading NGO security policy experts academic scholars and private sector executives.
The selected participants receive a highly-useful certificate at the successful completion of the program and are encouraged to enrich the public debate concerning current NATO activities and the future of the organization as well as other global security challenges.
What topics will be covered at the 2024 NATO Summer School?
The topics encompass strategies for leveraging economic and financial tools for national security, security implications and strategic interests in space, disinformation and hybrid threats, cybersecurity, challenges posed by China, and Russia's ongoing military aggression in Ukraine.
