Overview

Summer School as School is an interdisciplinary education and art collaboration model designed for BA and MA students, artists, architects and researchers of visual arts, humanities and social sciences, political theory, art history and curatorial studies, architecture and design, and anyone with a keen interest in the subject area.

The language of instruction is English.

The program will be held August 5 – 17, 2024.

Details

The 2024 program of Summer School as School will revolve around 15 courses, the public program with lectures, conferences, performances, film school program, DJ sessions and exhibitions by artists, writers, and scholars.

Up to ten applicants will be selected to take part in each course. Applicants can register to attend more than one class.

With Summer School as School, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina and partner institutions have created a unique collaborative international platform based in Prishtina, developing an interdisciplinary curriculum and engaging practitioners to share knowledge and expertise with international students and the public.

Originally inspired by the case of Kosovo, where the education system was structured in the mid-1970s, Summer School as School is designed to bring together and disseminate critical knowledge and address important challenges of today, implementing new models and possibilities in art education and artistic collaboration.

Presently, Summer School as School is the leading regional collaborative platform in art and discourse production, and a model that unites the capacity of the region of Southeastern Europe, engaged international faculty and partner institutions, to produce and disseminate a inter-disciplinary model of education and art collaboration.

  • Summer School as School is designed for students of visual art, art history, curatorial studies, set design and film, as well as artists, architects, curators, designers, musicians, sociologists, philosophers, writers and anyone interested in art, architecture, design, music, writing and publishing and art education.
  • The language of instruction is English.

Cost/funding for participants

Participation fee

The total fee is 300€. Bank transfer fees are to be covered by the participant.

Special conditions apply for the Alumni of Summer School as School. The participation fee is due in full after you have successfully enrolled in the course via written confirmation from SSAS. The fee covers tuition, proceedings and certificates. This fee does not cover the cost of individually necessary materials, personal equipment, further excursions, accommodation or travel expenses. Final acceptance in the course will be confirmed only after we have confirmation of your payment in full.

Scholarships are available for participants from Kosovo.A limited number of scholarships are available for international participants.

Equivalency Certificate

At the conclusion of each course, students will be issued a certificate stating their equivalency of The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits from Stacion - Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina, Kosovo and the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, France.

An equivalency certificate is issued to registered participants who have demonstrated competencies to learning outcomes and associated workload certified with the equivalent ECTS credits of the curricula of the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, France. Employers, colleges and other postsecondary schools can choose to accept the equivalency certificate as a substitute of ECTS credits.
