As an international leader in the field of information security, TU Graz is placing a focus on the training of information security experts. Three master's degree programmes offered in the English language allow students to specialise in information security.

Studying a subject in depth, applying knowledge in practical projects, doing research autonomously, studying abroad – all of these elements can feature in a TU Graz master’s degree programme, which is the next stage after a bachelor’s degree and is designed to prepare students to enter a relevant profession.

The degrees Diplom-Ingenieurin or Diplom-Ingenieur (DI or Dipl.-Ing.) or Master of Science(MSc) are gateways to many career opportunities in Austria and abroad and are also the qualification required to study for a doctoral degree.

Master's degree programmes (information security):

  • Master's Degree Programme Information and Computer Engineering

TU Graz is an internationally leading university in the field of cybersecurity and committed to the highest quality in education. It is a core part of our passion for cybersecurity at TU Graz to create a great study environment for the information security experts and researchers of tomorrow.

The Cybersecurity Scholarships for international students aim at supporting excellent students that have completed their bachelor's degree at another university and come to TU Graz in order to specialize in information security. It is part of a broad initiative for supporting excellent students in cybersecurity that also includes other awards as well as options to work as a part-time researchers at TU Graz already during the Master's degree programme. 

Application for the scholarship 2026 to 2028

Step 1: Admission to the master’s degree programme

Acceptance to one of the following english-language master’s degree programmes is a condition for being awarded a scholarship:

  • Major in Information Security within the Master's programmes Computer Science, 
  • Information and Computer Engineering 
  • or Software Engineering and Management 

Step 2: Application for the scholarship

Application requirements for the scholarship

  • International student
  • Excellent academic performance in previous studies
  • Commitment, communication skills, interest, creativity and self-responsibility thinking

Application process

The following application documents must be submitted in English as pdf files:

  • Personal statement in form of an essay
  • Two letters of recommendation from the student’s teachers during his or her studies
  • Copy of passport

Step 3: Selection criteria and procedures

After the end of the application deadline a panel will select applicants for the scholarships based on the application documents submitted. Special importance is attached to the field of interest and personal motivation in the personal statement. In addition to excellent qualification, important criteria are good general knowledge, interest, open-mindedness, strong communication skills, creativity and self-responsibility thinking.

  • Scholarships for: talented students with a major in information security within the english-language master’s programmes in Computer Science, Information and Computer Engineering or Software Engineering and Management.
    The scholarship is preferably awarded to newly admitted students at TU Graz.

  • Conditions: acceptance for an information security major in the the master’s programme in Computer Science, Information and Computer Engineering or Software Engineering and Management
