Details
The interns will be at the forefront of relationship-building between international visitors and locals. Engage in Palestine offers this flexible program year-round (Summer, Winter, Fall, and Spring), for periods of between 1 and 13 weeks, with the choice of start and end dates entirely up to the participant. In order to better inform participants of the complexities surrounding human rights in Palestine, Engage in Palestine will organise visits to human rights organizations, Palestinian community centers, local activists, Palestinian refugee camps and Palestinian families.
The Human Rights Internship program is open to students of all levels, native and non-native English speakers, graduate and undergraduate students of Middle Eastern studies, Arabic studies, political sciences, scholars conducting case studies on Palestine and Israel, human aid worker, professionals, researchers, retirees and anyone who would like to help and contribute meaningfully to the Palestinian community in the West Bank.
The Human Rights Internship in the West Bank, Palestine is largely knowledge-based, focusing on building participant knowledge around human rights and legal transgressions in Palestine, whilst also raising awareness of these issues.
During the internship you will be working in cooperation with international organizations, local activists and experts on international law for the benefit of the Palestinian people. To help accomplish this, the Human Rights Program is divided into four sections:
- Building knowledge about human rights and the political situation
- Constructing an original program by coordinating and working with local activists
- Studying Arabic and learning about Palestinian culture and daily life
- Organising workshops for Palestinian youth, teaching English to Palestinian children and refugees and writing articles
