What is the Singapore AI Safety Fellowship?
The Singapore AI Safety Fellowship is an independent research fellowship that connects fellows with leading mentors working on technical AI safety and governance. Fellows conduct research for three months in Singapore, building the skills and relationships for international coordination on AI safety.
It's built for researchers who want their work to inform real-world AI safety practice, on top of publishing it. Singapore's role as a globally connected, policy-engaged hub makes that possible.
Our fellowship is advised by Ryan Kidd, the Co-Executive Director of the MATS Program.
Three Pillars
01. Cross-regional collaboration
We bring together researchers from the East and the West to build the trusted relationships and shared understanding needed for sustained AI safety collaboration across borders.
02. Technical depth and research excellence
Guided by experienced researchers and advisors, fellows investigate some of the most pressing challenges in making frontier AI systems safe, secure, and trustworthy.
03. Applying research to policy
Providing the institutional partnerships and collaborations for research projects to be grounded in real-world application. Fellows learn to translate complex technical ideas into practical frameworks and policy recommendations.
