Overview
The Translation Centre offers traineeships, especially to university students from the Member States of the European Union and to nationals from applicant countries who wish to acquire an understanding of the Centre's areas of activity and gain personal experience in a multicultural and multilingual environment, with the opportunity to make contacts.
Details
The minimum duration of a traineeship may not be less than three months, and the maximum duration may not exceed six months (except in the case of exemptions).
Prior to each calendar year, the Centre will decide on the number of traineeships to be offered, depending on the level of budget appropriations available and the capacity of each department to accommodate a trainee.
The Centre will then publish a call for traineeship applications on its website, setting out the different stages of the selection procedure (eligibility and selection criteria, application form, etc.).

Description of Ideal Candidate
Traineeships will be open to applicants who, at the time of applying for a traineeship, meet the following requirements:
- completion of at least four semesters of university studies or equivalent education in a field of interest to the Centre;
- level of skills: some initial experience in one of the Centre’s areas of activity;
- language skills: thorough knowledge of one official language of the European Union and a satisfactory command of another EU language, to the extent necessary to carry out their duties. A good knowledge of one of the Centre’s working languages (French or English) is an advantage.
Applicants from applicant countries must have a thorough knowledge of at least one of the languages of an applicant country and a good knowledge of English or French.

Trainees will receive a monthly grant amounting to 25% of the basic monthly salary of a temporary member of staff in grade AD5, step 1, applicable from the starting date of the traineeship.
