CV Format in Switzerland

Your CV is your forerunner in document form when you’re expressing your interest to apply for a job  in a company you want to be employed in. Although CV in Switzerland doesn’t differ much anywhere else, it is essential that you prepare a customized CV for your chosen employer.

Some local firms in Switzerland will appreciate it if you prepare a CV in Swiss German. Although this may not be required by most employers, keep another version handy just in case they ask for it during your interview. To get an idea on how you can tailor-fit your CV to your Swiss employer, check out the CV format below.

Parts of your CV

Content

Heading

The heading of your CV would preferably reflect your full name on bigger fonts than the others, together with your photo on the upper corner of your document.

Personal Information

Besides your name that is part of the heading, personal information that would be expected from this section are your  contact information, nationality, address, and your marital status.

Professional Experience / Work History

Your employer would probably be more concerned by this portion. In this section, you may indicate work experiences in reverse chronological order, stating the most recent work experience first. Take note that you only need to indicate jobs that are relevant to the position you are applying for. Specify the position you took and a brief description of your role. It is advised that you drop work experiences that happened a long time ago, not unless it can be very helpful to your application.

Educational Background & Trainings Attended

It is important that your employer get an idea of your educational qualification. This section will also help you stand out from the pool of candidates. You may specify your most recent educational background and mention relevant awards that you got from the years of your education. Should have undergone training where you got skills that can help you in the position you are applying for, might as well mention it in this section.

Skill

This section is entirely subjective and may already be combined with the previous section. However, if you think you have particular skills that may appear as your competitive advantage over the others, you may state them here and give more details about how you can utilize this skill for the benefit of your company.
