Work Visas in Switzerland
Working in Switzerland is but a rewarding experience both career-wise and leisure-wise. The country is a conducive place for living and is a reassuring country to gain work experience. Should your decision be final, you will have to secure a Swiss Schengen Work Visa or a D-Visa, most especially if you’re not coming from the EU/EFTA Region. Below are the documentary requirements that will be asked from you.
- A passport valid for at least 3 months after your Schengen visa expiration date, issued in the last ten years, with at least two empty pages
- Three copies of relevant pages in your passport
- Four identical passport-sized photos
- Three completed long-stay visa application forms in either German, French, Spanish, or English. This form can come from online sources or be taken at the embassy consulate you are applying in
- Two copies of your employment contract
- Proof of your professional activity
- Copies of your qualifications such as diplomas and certificates
- Documents reflecting information about your previous education, such as grades, subjects taken, and dates attended in the university / college
- Your comprehensive CV
- Other supporting documents the embassy may deem necessary for your type of application
To Apply:
- Your employer shall apply for your residence permit on your behalf at the local contonal employment services in Switzerland.
- The local cantonal authorities review your application and refer it to the Federal Office for Migration (FOM) for approval.
- Apply for a Swiss Work visa or long-stay/ national visa while your employer applies for your residence permit.
- One approved by the FOM, they will inform the Swiss Embassy in your country.
