As part of our continuous development, we are currently looking for an intern to join the Private Banking Risk & Control team from September 2024 for a period of 3 to 6 months. The Private Banking Intern will join us as Control Officer, and will perform the overall first level control and risk management involving close work with all departments across Private Banking.

Your Position

As Control Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting all Control officers in their search in the various electronic databases (CRM, ICN, etc.);
• Performing straightforward controls - e.g., client classification, phone records, etc.
• Designing control reports summarizing the outcome of the controls performed, and propose action plan to improve the situation, when needed.
• Writing/Reviewing the working instructions detailing how to perform the controls.

Depending on your ability to handle straightforward controls, you might move to the next step:

• Challenge and perform controls over various critical investment or business-related processes including, but not limited to, trade suitability review, order taking validation, account activity review, etc.
• Act as an intermediary between Private Bankers, Portfolio Managers, and the second line of defense (i.e., Financial & Operational Risk Management and Compliance) to ensure our way of working is fully in line with the current regulation framework.

In addition to this, you will be in charge of one of these projects, depending on your competencies on the field and on the department needs at that moment:

• Identifying and challenging all changes that the brand-new platform has brought to the way we used to perform our controls, present them to the Head of PB Risk & Control, to Risk Management and Compliance. Then update our working instructions accordingly;
• Preparing the Quarterly control report dedicated to the PB Management Committee (ManCo), Head of Audit, Head of Risk and Head of Compliance. Then follow up on the evolution of the control results, identify the big trends, draw conclusions and suggest action plans to improve the situation in the future;
• Setting up the Repapering & Reprofiling monthly statistics dedicated to the PB Management Committee (ManCo), Head of Audit, Head of Risk and Head of Compliance. Then identify actions to be taken by various departments i.e., AOA (Administration of Accounts), Front Care, PB Officers or PB Assistants;
• Preparing the External Auditors first assessment of the Bank’s accounts by making sure that the contribution of the tariffs and fees applied do reconcile with a proportion of the profits recorded by the Bank.

In order to get there, you will have to ensure:

• Correspondence between the content in AVALOQ and what is stated in the contract signed by the client/email request sent to Front Care;  
• Consistency between the documents with the system settings and vice versa data. (with focus is on tariff);
• Consistency and correspondence between the different tariff types (client group, management fees & safekeeping fees).
