Overview
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is the driving force among regulatory authorities in implementing the EU's groundbreaking chemicals legislation for the benefit of human health and the environment as well as for innovation and competitiveness. ECHA helps companies to comply with the legislation, advances the safe use of chemicals, provides information on chemicals and addresses chemicals of concern.
Details
ECHA Communications unit engages and communicates with ECHA's stakeholders and the agency’s staff. We manage the ECHA website, intranet and social media channels and coordinate ECHA's communications in 23 languages. We coordinate media relations to ensure an accurate and proportionate media presence and ultimately safeguard our corporate reputation. The four teams in the Communications Unit are: Corporate Communications, External Communications, the Newsroom and Digital Communications.
Trainee Assignment
The Communications Trainee will support mainly the work of Corporate Communications team. The tasks for the trainee include the following:
- Contributing to and supporting external communication activities – e.g. producing content to social media channels;
- Supporting production of audio-visual content
- Updating of the website, dealing with requests from different units;
- Participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing to creative ideas for social media campaigns and initiatives;
- Contributing and supporting internal communications – e.g. writing for the intranet, staff awareness campaigns and activities, intranet development, etc.;
- Any other communication tasks, based on needs of the unit

Profile
- Completed university studies at least to bachelor’s degree level (preferably in communications);
- Some experience as a communicator in the public or private sector;
- Experience in using MS Office tools;
- Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills;
- Aptitude for team work;
- Excellent English skills both written and spoken (as this is the working language of the Agency);
- Knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
- Graphic design and audiovisual tools
- Video projects from ideation to production, including scripting, storyboarding and editing/post-production;
- Website content management and web design.

Cost/funding for participants
The graduate trainee scheme offers a grant.
Trainees who continue to receive remuneration from their employer, or any other grant or allowance will only be entitled to a grant from ECHA if the amount they receive is less than the one indicated above. In this case, trainees will receive an amount equal to the difference between their income and the level of ECHA's grant.
