Overview

In 2006, the TU Dresden successfully applied to the German Excellence Initiative, facilitating the foundation of the Graduate School DIGS-BB. Since then, the DIGS-BB has become one of the most renowned international PhD programs in the field of Biomedicine and Bioengineering. The DIGS-BB is looking for outstanding, highly committed, ambitious and creative individuals who can think outside the box and work on challenging projects at the frontiers of science.

How to apply

You can apply via the DIPP Internship Online Application portal usually between October and January. Allow us to understand your background, your scientific interest, and what you wish to accomplish. Make sure to list your preferred internship projects in order of preference, and to upload all required documents.

Admission

Applications will be reviewed by the group leaders offering the internship placements after the eligibility has been evaluated by the DIGS-BB Program Coordinator. We will conduct video interviews and may contact your referee before making a decision. Formal offers to participate in our Student Research Internship program are made by the DIGS-BB Program Coordinator.

Description of Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor and Master students with an excellent academic performance record are eligible to apply. Bachelor students must have completed at least 4 semesters of their studies before starting the internship. Official enrollment as a student at the home university and high proficiency in English is mandatory (provision of TOEFL or IELTS results and GRE examination results is strongly recommended but not mandatory).
  • The Student Research Internships are open to matriculated non-local university students studying towards a Bachelor or Master degree in the fields of Life Science, Natural Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Applied Mathematics.

Cost/funding for participants

A student research internship lasts 3 months and concludes with a written report and an oral presentation. The precise dates will be agreed individually with the hosting group. Successful candidates will receive a monthly allowance of 861 Euro to support travel, housing, and living costs. Guidance in arranging travel, housing and visa will be provided, if required.
