We are looking for adventurers, for youth workers who aim for change.... we are looking for YOUth! What are you waiting for? Apply now! This is what you’ll do...

Europe on Track is a project of AEGEE, run by young volunteers who aim to raise awareness, to create a space for discussion and to capture the opinions of youth in Europe on important social issues.

Thanks to Eurail, the European Youth Foundation, from the Council of Europe, and the European Union; our 6 ambassadors will travel in teams by train across over 20 cities in one month to deliver workshops, interview young people and organize events in cooperation with over 200 volunteers from all over Europe.

Details

Europe on Track is a project of AEGEE, run entirely by young volunteers. Each year since 2012, ambassadors divided in teams travel through Europe during one month, gathering the opinions of young people and delivering workshops about a topic which changes for every edition.

What is the focus of Europe on Track 12?

This year, the project team will address eco-anxiety and its impact on young people across Europe. As the climate crisis intensifies, many young Europeans experience overwhelming feelings of fear, helplessness, and distress about environmental degradation and an uncertain future. However, eco-anxiety doesn’t have to lead to paralysis – it can become a catalyst for meaningful action.

Europe on Track 12 will explore how young people can channel eco-anxiety into collective climate action and civic engagement. The project will examine the psychological and social dimensions of climate concern, while highlighting the power of community organising, youth-led initiatives, and cross-border collaboration in responding to the climate emergency. Participants will discover how to transform individual anxiety into collective resilience, creating spaces where young people can connect, support each other, and mobilise for systemic change.

Join us for Europe on Track 12 – Eco-Anxiety: How to channel it?

Together, we’ll turn climate concern into climate action.

When will Europe on Track 12 take place?

Europe on Track 12 will take place between 21 May and 30 June 2026. It will start with a training session for ambassadors from 21–27 May, after which the two teams will embark on their journeys – the Action Tour – for approximately four weeks. The project will conclude with a Final Conference, an evaluation event lasting four days, from 27–30 June.

Additionally, all Ambassadors will commit to approximately 3-4 hours per week for online preparation in April and May.

What tasks do you expect ambassadors to carry out?

Ambassadors will:

  • Deliver workshops and interview young people in each city they visit.
  • Meet with local stakeholders and political representatives.
  • Create written (e.g. social media posts) and visual (e.g. photos and videos) content for Europe on Track’s social media and external channels.
  • At the end of the journey, finalise and evaluate their materials to measure the project’s impact in the format of a final conference, where they will draft policy recommendations related to the topic and engage with experts and panelists.

How will the ambassadors be prepared for the project?

Each route begins with a week-long training, during which ambassadors will prepare for the journey and finalise their workshops. This training will take place from 21–27 May. From the moment ambassadors are selected, they will collaborate online with the project team to start preparing the workshops.

How much time per week is needed for the project?

Starting from April 2026, around 3–4 hours per week will be needed to prepare materials and maintain communication with the project team and local organisers from the cities you’ll visit. This workload will increase slightly in June as preparations are finalised. Full commitment is required from 21 May to 30 June 2026.

How does the selection process work?

The selection process has two stages:

  1. Application – complete this form by 23 November 2025, 23:59 CET.
  2. Interview – shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview with the Project Team in December 2025.

Final results will be announced in January 2026.

What does it mean to be an ambassador?

Ambassadors are the travellers of Europe on Track. If selected, you’ll embark on an unforgettable six-week journey across Europe during May and June 2026. Throughout the trip, you’ll receive training on this year’s topic, deliver workshops, and interview young people from all over the continent. The experience concludes with a final conference where you’ll evaluate your journey and share insights with other ambassadors.

Are there age restrictions to being an ambassador?

All our ambassadors must be between 18 and 30 years old.

Are there country restrictions to being an ambassador?

We welcome applications from all over the world! However, residents of Council of Europe member countries may be given priority.

Cost/funding for participants

Do ambassadors get a payment?

Europe on Track is a volunteer project – therefore, ambassadors do not receive a salary for their work. Nonetheless, the most important project-related expenses are covered by us.

What is covered for the ambassadors?

  • Transportation between stops during the route

  • Local transportation in each city

  • Accommodation during the project

  • Food throughout the entire project

  • Travel from your home to the training location and from the final conference back home

  • All activities related to the project

How do covered expenses work in practice?

There are three different types of covered expenses:

  • Directly covered by the project: Costs such as accommodation and the majority of transportation between stops will be arranged and paid  by the project.
  • Reimbursable expenses: Occasionally, ambassadors may need to pay for certain project-related expenses themselves (e.g. local public transport tickets). These costs will be fully reimbursed.
  • Food allowance: At the start of the journey, ambassadors will receive an allowance to cover food-related expenses. This allowance can only be spent on food and non-alcoholic beverages.

What isn’t covered for ambassadors?

  • Visa fees – we will help reduce these costs by providing official invitation letters
  • Health insurance
  • Personal spending money – based on previous experience, around €200 (depending on personal habits) should be sufficient for the trip

Will you help me get a visa?

If you need a visa for any of the countries on your route, we will provide you with the necessary invitation letters and guide you through the different stages of the application. However, the final responsibility for obtaining the visa lies with you.

When will I receive my reimbursement?

Reimbursements will be processed after the final conference, once all conditions are met — this includes finalising and submitting your materials to the project team and properly documenting all additional expenses. Detailed instructions on how to do this will be provided once you are selected.
