Specific Post Environment:
The Private Credit (“PC”) Division is part of the Equity Investments department, within the Investment Office.
Amongst other activities, the PC team is in charge of (i) sourcing, screening and executing investments in European PC funds, reserved to institutional investors and focusing on SME and small mid-cap lending with a specific focus on policy priorities, such as green transition, innovation, or security & defence; (ii) monitoring the PC portfolio of EIF and (iii) ensuring relevant market intelligence tasks in the specific market segment.
Overall objective:
You will be working are the following:
- Conducting focused research on European alternative lenders by exploring (i) PC market sentiment, including key opportunities, risks and mitigating factors, and (ii) mapping the market according to thematic areas and value-added features.
- Carrying out a performance analysis on the PC portfolio of EIF, with respect to inter alia, returns, defaults and recoveries; including developing new ideas for performance computation, benchmarking and presentation.
Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the senior of the team, you shall:
- Perform research and benchmarking analysis on key performance metrics of the European private credit/alternative lenders, with particular emphasis on fund managers specializing in thematics that are relevant for the EIF value add investment strategy;
- Review and consolidate all PC data within the EIF fund portfolio - based on the internal management information system and tools – and pro-actively update a performance reference benchmark tool (risk-adjusted return analysis), through interaction with internal counterparties, deep-dive into data, including consistency and sanity checks;
- Support the elaboration of communication material and case studies providing visibility to EIF’s investment activity in the PC market.
Expected outcome:
- Creation of enhanced analytics and reporting framework;
- Presentation of the results of the portfolio review, research and benchmarking; as well as the updated private credit reference benchmark tool;
- Bi-monthly team presentations on the private credit market (by thematic/ geographic focus).

Qualifications:
- University degree (preferably at Master’s level, or on-going postgraduate studies at advanced stage) in Corporate Finance, Business & Economics, Private Credit/Private Equity/Venture Capital, Asset Management, or any other related field;
- Basic knowledge about and strong interest in private credit and its interaction with other alternative asset classes such as private equity;
- Good analytic and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft application tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) .
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good command of another EU language would be an advantage.
- Basic understanding of EIF´s products and EIF’s mission, products and activities;
