The European Travel Retail Confederation (ETRC) is an association, serving its members in the duty free and travel retail sector in Europe, to help create the right environment to allow the industry to achieve its potential and protect it when challenges arise. Our Secretariat based in Brussels is looking for a motivated and talented intern to support its daily activities.

Main duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Secretary General and working closely with the Secretariat, this internship offers a learning experience into organisational and administrative support of a European umbrella association work, while providing exposure to advocacy and communications -related activities:

  • Support on monitoring (e.g. monitoring of media and intelligence gathering; communications to members);
  • Support on advocacy and public affairs (e.g. mapping of stakeholders; contacts lists; attend events and meetings);
  • Support to project and policy work (e.g. desk research; draft notes/briefings/presentations);
  • Support on communication and events (e.g. internal communication with members; external communication visuals for media and partners; draft articles; organise meetings or events);
  • Office management and administrative support (e.g. internal reporting; agenda management; financial support; archiving).

Skills and qualifications

  • Relevant academic background (political science, EU law, communications, public relations etc);
  • Strong inter-personal skills: Reliable, proactive, diplomatic, autonomous and well-organised;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills: Good research, drafting, and synthesis skills; good digital skills (MS Office package) and creativity (Canva).
  • Excellent command of English (working language), other languages a plus;
  • A first exposure to work in EU affairs or a similar environment is an asset.

Offer

  • Remunerated internship of 6 months;
  • Must be eligible for working in Belgium;
  • Flexible work arrangement (1 or 2 days per week from home); some travel may exceptionally be required.
