Overview

As the host university, every summer Fudan holds various activities to welcome and prepare the students for their four-week life at the Summer Session including the opening ceremony. At the opening ceremony, the students will be given an introduction of the program as well as plenty of useful information and tips in terms of both academic and leisure life on campus.

About FISS

Fudan International Summer Session is a 4-week English-taught course study program for college students from all over the world. Starting from 2012, the program has welcomed more than 7,000 students in the past 14 years. It helps students achieve multicultural understanding, establish a global vision, and get connected with peers from all over the world. Fudan University's degree students will also participate in the program. So students will have the opportunity to get to know Shanghai and China, and become part of the Fudan community.

Content courses cover a variety of topics, Business and Economy, History and Culture, Science and Technology, Society and Politics, Medicine and Law. In addition, PE courses such as Chinese Kungfu and Chinese Folk Dance, and different levels of Chinese language courses are also provided.

Apart from the courses, various extracurricular and social activities, such as Fudan Campus Tour, Ice-breaking, Shanghai City Exploration, Huangpu River Cruise, Company Visits, Chinese Dragon & Lion Dance, Chinese Calligraphy, etc., are also arranged for students to experience the Chinese culture and the wonders of Shanghai, achieve multicultural understanding, establish a global vision, and get connected with peers from Fudan and all over the world.

After successful completion of the course study, students will be awarded a program certificate and the official transcript from Fudan University.

Fudan International Summer Session 2026 (OFFLINE, July 13 - August 7, 2026)  will provide:

  • 40 content courses in History and Culture, Society and Politics, Business and Economy, Science and Technology, Medicine and Law. (Course list for reference: https://iss.fudan.edu.cn/Courses/Course_List.htm)
  • Chinese language courses in 3 levels (40 credit hours each, optional)
  • 2 PE courses (optional)
  • Various activities: Ice-breaking, Shanghai City Walk, Huangpu River Cruise, A day-trip to Zhouzhuang Water Town, Dragon & Lion Dance, Chinese Shadow Play, Chinese Calligraphy, Farewell Party, etc. (subject to change.)
  • Company Visit: Baidu, Meituan, Byte Dance, HiPhi, SenseTime, etc. (subject to change.)

  2. And the general state of the applicant's health should be good enough for him/her to pursue the course of study at Fudan.

Cost/funding for participants

Scholarship: Students from Fudan‘s partner universities with an active exchange agreement will have the opportunity to get the tuition fee and application fee waived.
