The MSc – Master of Science in Banking, Capital Markets & Financial Technology is a 4-term program completely taught in English designed to take your knowledge of capital markets to a higher level. Interactive lessons by academic and industry experts provide strong technical skills in capital markets securities, banking and financial technology.

In a fast-moving global financial environment, this program further explores the most recent developments in capital markets and the technological advances that are reshaping the financial world. Our students graduate with a set of solid quantitative and coding tools and knowledge of the banking and capital markets environment.

The program is specifically targeted towards recent graduates willing to develop their technical skills and knowledge in Finance.

PROGRAM

The program is offered on a full-time basis and consists of 3 consecutive terms of academic courses followed by a professional experience. The curriculum is developed around core courses within the field of banking and capital markets and its latest developments that build a set of skills to best prepare students’ transition into a successful and meaningful career in this challenging and dynamic industry.

ZOOM ON… THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE FOR SECURITIES AND INVESTMENT (CISI) 

Our MSc in Banking, Capital Markets and Financial Technology partners with the London-based Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). Under this educational partnership, our courses embed the contents of CISI’s International Introduction to Securities and Investment and our students are given the opportunity to take the corresponding Level 3 qualification.

WORKSHOPS AND CORPORATE EVENTS

Alongside the courses, the program includes various workshops and corporate events to further develop your personal and professional skills. These cover a range of topics, such as conflict management in cross-cultural environments and intercultural communication.

Our Career Program helps participants to establish their professional career plan by working on their skills, personal strengths, and using networking tools to be prepared to meet recruiters’ expectations internationally.

INTERNSHIP

During their internship, students are able to combine theories of management with hands-on experience and apply the cross-cultural skills they have developed at IÉSEG.

Assistant Portfolio Manager, Credit Risk Trainee, Depositary Analyst, Equity Derivatives Analyst, Financial Risk Manager, Junior Auditor or Structuring Analyst for example: the internship opportunities offered by the program at the end of the curriculum are multiple.

Some companies which hire our interns: Amundi Asset Management, Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking, Natixis, J.P. Morgan, Quilvest Asset Management, FXCM, Langham Hall, Alter Domus, European Stability Mechanism, EY/PWC, etc.

The internship can be undertaken in France or abroad. Most students have done their internships in France, in Europe, in Asia or in South America for example.

IÉSEG is part of the select group of Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partners, which stands as a global recognition of the excellence that our faculty has developed in incorporating the Bloomberg terminal in lectures. The Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) exam is a central piece of our MSc in Banking, Capital Markets and Financial Technology.
  2. Each student of the program also receives an individual remote access to Refinitiv Workspace for use in academic activities throughout the 3 terms of courses. Accessing capital markets from our Bloomberg and Refinitiv labs offers a unique hands-on experience to sharpen your technical skills on the terminals of the 2 leading global providers of financial data.

FINANCIAL MARKETS LABS

Our 2 Financial Markets Labs, located on the Lille campus, provide students with a unique experience. Through a series of dedicated lectures you will discover market practices live using the Bloomberg Professional and the Thomson Reuters EIKON terminals. The lab plays a key role in the pedagogy of our program and they integrate the most recent teaching innovations to enhance your learning experience. During the Master of Science in Banking, Capital Markets & Financial Technology, students complete the Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) e-course, tale the Thomson Reuters EIKON certification program and reach the level of expertise in financial data services required by the industry.

Accessing capital markets from our Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters labs offers a unique hands-on experience to sharpen your technical skills on the terminals of the 2 leading global providers of financial data.

KEY PROGRAM ADVANTAGES

MSC – MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREES

Upon successful completion of the program (120 ECTS), students are awarded the traditional ‘MSc – Master of Science Degree’ from the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (“Diplôme de la Conférence des Grandes Écoles”), which attests to the School’s excellence.

They also get the State-recognized ‘Grade de Master’ for this Postgraduate program (“Diplôme d’Études Spécialisées en Management International”), delivered by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and registered with the French RNCP (the National Registry of Professional Certification) under the number RNCP35291.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Our students graduate from the MSc – Master of Science in Banking, Capital Markets and Financial Technology with solid technical skills and with a deep understanding of the role of capital markets in the economy. The program develops expertise in investment management, and in the functioning and regulation of equity and debt capital markets. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The Master of Science in Banking, Capital Markets & Financial Technology program is specifically targeted towards recent graduates in Finance, Engineering, Economics or Business Administration willing to further develop their technical skills and knowledge in finance.

What you need to apply:

  • A Bachelor degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics or Business Administration. Applicants with Bachelor degrees in other areas will be considered together with relevant professional experience
  • Transcripts in English/Spanish/French of your Bachelor degree (up to date if you have not graduated yet)
  • Your Bachelor diploma (if applicable)
  • A good command of English; English Proficiency test for non-native speakers: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL IBT 85, TOEIC 4 skills 850, Duolingo 105, Cambridge Exam B2.
    Native English speakers or candidates who have had two years of courses taught in English are exempt.

Cost/funding for participants

TUITION FEES

€17,500  for domestic and international students.

Other mandatory fees can go up to €500 (including, for example, the Alumni Association fee). Unlike some other countries where international students pay a much higher tuition than domestic students, there is NO difference between tuition for French and international students at IÉSEG.

LIVING COST

SCHOLARSHIPS

IÉSEG offers large numbers of scholarships in the form of tuition waiver up to €5,000 for students who meet the various criteria for each case. No separate application is needed. Decisions will be made during admission commission and released along with admission decision.

  • PARTNER SCHOLARSHIP
    • €500 tuition reduction for all admitted applicants coming from one of our partner universities worldwide
  • EARLY BIRD SCHOLARSHIP
    • €1,000 tuition reduction for all applications submitted before February 1st, 2024
  • GMAT SCHOLARSHIPS
    • €500 tuition reduction for admitted applicants with a GMAT score between 650 and 680,
    • €1,000 tuition reduction for admitted applicants with a GMAT score of 690 or higher.
      The GMAT score can be sent after the completion of the application, until the end of the application process (according to the application deadlines).
  • MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
    • Between €500 and €2,500 tuition reduction based on the applicant’s overall portfolio based on high levels of academic performance, rigor, motivation, extra-curricular activities and/or professional expertise

FINANCIAL AIDS

The choice to study abroad is not only an academic decision, but also a financial one. Students need to be aware of the various cost involved in pursuing a postgraduate’s degree at IÉSEG.

Eiffel Scholarship

The Eiffel Excellence Program offers funding for a Master’s postgraduate degree course and PhD. It is run by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Focusing on three key subject areas of sciences, economics and management, law and political science, its primary aim is to offer scholarships in French higher education establishments to future public and private sector decision-makers in foreign countries. As regards the Master’s degree course, students pursuing careers in teaching and research are not eligible as they can benefit from other grant programs.

It also seeks to encourage applicants from developing countries, particularly in Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the new EU Member States, although this does include industrialised countries for the PhD component. The Eiffel Programme is designed to help French higher education establishments attract high calibre overseas students. Only French higher education establishments can submit applications and, if successful, they must enrol the candidates in the requested courses to obtain the Eiffel grant.
