Our summer school programme gives students the opportunity to develop their personal and professional development, or study for credits. Europe Inside Out is an amazing experience that will leave you with great memories and new friends.

With its exciting range of options and its setting in one of Europe’s greatest cities, KU Leuven’s EU summer course truly stands out from the crowd.

During this short-term programme jointly offered by the Faculties of Economics & Business, Arts and Social Sciences you have the option to study for 2 or 3 weeks. The course will include lectures on Doing Business with Europe(ans); Policies & Politics in the EU; Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe and Social & Cultural Interactions. Participants will also visit Brussels, Antwerp and Paris.

WHY CHOOSE KU LEUVEN?

The three organising Faculties have all amassed a wealth of experience at English-taught international master programmes and short-term courses. Founded in 1425, KU Leuven is the oldest university in Belgium, as well as being the oldest surviving Catholic university anywhere in the world. With more than 42.000 students, it’s also Belgium’s largest higher education institution and is considered to be one of the most prestigious research universities in Europe. It is in 12th place in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for Europe and number 45 in the world.

The programme in detail

There is a multidisciplinary and broad common part which all students have to take. These core sessions cover about half of the contact hours. From the following majors students choose two, each representing about eight class hours. These majors are:

  1. Doing business with Europe(ans)
  2. Politics and policies in Europe
  3. Social and cultural interactions
  4. Innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe

DATES & LOCATION

In 2026, this summer school will start on Monday 22 June 2026. Students can choose whether they want to participate for two weeks (until Friday 3 July 2026) or for three weeks (until Friday 10 July 2026).

KU Leuven pre-booked single rooms at Guesthouse De Viking from 22 June 2026 until 10 July 2026. Students pay € 479 for this period. Staying at the Irish College is also possible. KU Leuven pre-booked single, twin and duplex rooms.

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • The course targets graduate students in e.g. Arts, Economics & Business, Law or Social Sciences. Undergraduate students in their final year are also welcome to apply.
  • Students with Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees from other disciplines should have had some exposure to at least one of the fields under study.

Cost/funding for participants

TUITION FEE:

Participation for two weeks (23/6 - 4/7):

  • Current (exchange) students: € 600
  • Students from partner institutions: € 600

Participation for three weeks (23/6 - 11/7):

  • Current (exchange) students: € 750
  • Students from partner institutions: € 750

Partner institution fee:

  • You are eligible for partner institution fee if you study at one of KU Leuven's partner institutions.
  • Please note that you have to provide us with a proof of your enrolment at this partner institution. You must send this proof by email to europe-inside-out@kuleuven.be to confirm your registration.

The tuition fee includes:

All registration fees are VAT exempt based on article 44 § 2, 4° of the Belgian VAT directive. Registrations fee are to be paid in Euro (€) by bank transfer, credit card or invoice.
