Overview
On 1 January 2016, NTNU merged with the University Colleges of Trondheim, Gjøvik and Ålesund. For you as an exchange student, this means you have three cities to choose between. Note that you must be able to find enough courses you are eligible to take in the city of your choice. You can only select courses in one city.
Details
Exchange students who come to NTNU typically attend the university for short periods of 3 to 12 months and return to their home university at the end of the exchange period.

Description of Ideal Candidate
We require all international students to have a good command of English at an academic level and you may need to provide TOEFL/IELTS test scores. Students taking courses in English are not required to have any Norwegian language knowledge.
Requirements for Faculty of Medicine applicants
Medical students doing practical or clinical work will have to provide MRSA test results and, in some cases, tuberculosis test results.
Requirements for Health- and social care applicants
Since NTNU has separate health care departments in Trondheim, Gjøvik and Ålesund, applicants must make sure that their home institution has an exchange agreement with the relevant NTNU department before they apply. Some agreements also provide the opportunity for a combination of practical placement and theoretical studies. Health- and social care students doing practical or clinical work will have to provide MRSA test results and, in some cases, tuberculosis test results.
Architecture students
Architecture students must have completed a minimum of three years at their home institution (bachelor) prior to arrival in Trondheim. Only courses at a master's level (year 4 and 5) are offered in English. In these subject areas we are also not able to supervise any bachelor's thesis work.

Cost/funding for participants
There are no tuition fees at NTNU.
However, students do need to cover their own living expenses. All international students who are not citizens of EU/EEA/EFTA countries must be able to document that they have enough funding to live in Norway while attending university.
